Men's Tennis Hosts Drake, Faces St. Johns at Cleveland State this Weekend

Musketeers face Bulldogs Friday at 1 PM, Red Storm Sunday at 10 AM
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's tennis is set for a pair of matches this weekend, hosting Drake at Camargo Racquet Club on Friday, Feb. 27, at 1:00 p.m. Xavier will then face St. John's on Sunday, March 1 at Cleveland State, set for a 10:00 a.m. start.

DRAKE
- The Bulldogs are 8-2 on the season, winning the last eight over Marquette, Creighton, Southern Indiana, Austin Peay, Grand View, William Woods, Chicago State and Saint Louis.
- Drake went 7-11 last season with a 1-4 record in Summit League play.
- The two teams played last February, with Xavier taking a 6-1 win.
St. JOHn's
- The Red Storm is 6-1 on the season, taking wins over Quinnipiac, FDU, Siena, Adelphi, Binghamton and VCU, with the lone setback coming to Cornell. SJU will face Cleveland State on Friday and Butler on Saturday ahead of the match against Xavier.
- St. John's went 25-3 last season, with a 4-0 record in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm took wins over Villanova, Georgetown and Creighton to win the BIG EAST Championship and earn an auto bid to the NCAA Championships. SJU fell to Princeton in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- The two programs last faced each other in 2021, a 4-1 win for St. John's.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Xavier will travel to Marquette next weekend, taking on the Golden Eagles on Friday, March 6.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns a trio from last year's squad that collected 10 wins and advanced to the BIG EAST Semifinals, senior Kyle Totorica, and sophomores Alex Kotarski and Andrew Spurck.
- The Musketeers added three transfers to the roster, senior Samuel Frizelle, who transferred from Florida Southern, junior Nick Herdoiza, who comes to Xavier from Northwestern, and Max Pettingell, a redshirt-freshman coming from Auburn.
- Xavier also added a pair of freshmen to the roster, Bode Campbell, a four-star recruit out of Bloomington, Minn., and Lukas Grossman, a four-star from Atlanta.
