Xavier hosts Dayton on Saturday evening
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Xavier women's tennis fell, 5-2, at Purdue on Friday evening.
The Musketeers return to the courts on Saturday, Feb.28, hosting Dayton at Camargo Racquet Club, set for a 5:00 p.m. start.

Emily Flowers and Natalie Smitek combined for the 6-4 win on the No. 3 court in the doubles first decision. Madeleine Rexroat and Ella DeFord fell, 6-4, on the No. 2 court, but Abby Nugent and Clara Owen combined for a 6-4 win on the No. 1 court to take the point for Xavier.
Purdue took the first singles decision, with #117 Ece Gencer taking a 6-2, 6-4 win over Abby Nugent on the No. 1 court to even the score at 1-1. Purdue moved in front with a, 6-4, 6-1, win on the No. 2 court against Abby Nugent and made it a 3-1 lead with a 6-4, 6-4 win on the No. 4 court against Ella DeFord.
The Boilermakers clinched the win with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win on the No. 6 court against Natalie Smitek to clinch the match at 4-1.
After the match was decided, Purdue picked up a decision on the No. 5 court, 7-6 (1), 2-6, 6-1, against Clara Owen.
Xavier picked up the last point, a 6-7 (5), 6-4, 10-4 win for Emily Flowers on No. 3 singles to set the final score at 5-2.
