Tre Carroll leads five Musketeers in double figures with 21, crosses 1000-point threshold for college career
NEW YORK - Five Musketeers hit double figures as Xavier forced overtime against No. 17 St. John's before falling to the Red Storm, 87-82, on Monday evening at Madison Square Garden.
The Musketeers dropped to 12-12 (4-9 BIG EAST) on the year, while St. John's moved to 19-5 (12-1 BIG EAST).
Xavier returns to Cintas Center on Saturday, Feb. 14, to host Marquette. The Musketeers and the Golden Eagles are set for a 3:00 p.m. start on TNT + truTV.

- After Xavier hit the opening basket, the Red Storm hit back-to-back baskets to take the lead, going ahead by as many as four in the opening minutes. Midway through the first half, Xavier used an 11-2 run to move in front, going ahead by as many as five, 24-19, with 8:28 to play in the half. St. John's responded with a 10-2 run to retake the lead and hold the advantage until the final seconds of the period, when a three from Isaiah Walker send the game to the half tied 42-42.
- In the second half, the Musketeers and Red Storm traded leads for the first 10 minutes, with neither team leading by more than four. Xavier extended the lead to five, 69-64, the largest lead for either team after halftime, with 9:26 to play. St. John's used a 10-2 run to retake the lead going into the final five minutes but Xavier used a 5-0 run to move back in front before a SJU basket with 16 second remaining tied it at 78-78, forcing overtime. The Red Storm uutscored Xavier 9-4 in OT to take the 87-82 win.
- Tre Carroll led the Musketeers with 21 points, scoring 17 in the second half, crossing the 1,000-point threshold for his collegiate career. He also grabbed eight rebounds and had a team-high four assists.
- Jovan Milicevic finished with 13 points after leading the Musketeers in the first half with 10 points.
- Filip Borovicanin posted his eighth double-double of the season, scoring 12 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
- Anthony Robinson shot 5-of-6 from the floor, finishing with 10 points.
- St. John's had a 48-40 advantage on the boards, with a 13-10 advantage on the offensive glass, but the Musketeers out-scored the Red Storm 13-5 on second-chance points.
- Xavier shot 44.7 percent (34-76) from the floor while St. John's shot 42.4 percent (28-66).
