Cory Herchenroeder Joins Women's Soccer Staff as Associate Head Coach

Herchenroeder comes to Xavier from Missouri State, where he served most recently as associate head coach
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer head coach Katy Etelman announced the addition of Cory Herchenroeder to her staff as associate head coach. Herchenroeder comes to Xavier from Missouri State where he joined the staff as an assistant coach in 2022 and was promoted to associate head coach in August of 2023.
"I am so excited to welcome Cory into our program," said head coach Katy Etelman. "He's authentic, competitive, and driven in everything he does. He knows what it takes to develop players, compete for conference championships, and play in the NCAA tournament. Cory's energy, work ethic, and ability to connect with student-athletes will make an immediate impact in the Xavier women's soccer program and continue to drive us forward on and off the field."
During his time at Missouri State, Herchenroeder worked primarily with the goalkeepers and back line and served as the recruiting coordinator.
In 2025, Herchenroeder helped guide the Bears' to the Conference USA Tournament Championship match during Missouri State's first season in the conference. Following the season, defender Maddie Schneiderhahn earned Second Team All-Conference honors, while a trio were named to the Conference USA All-Tournament Team.
Herchenroeder oversaw the Bears' defensive efforts in 2024 as the program posted a 13-5-3 record with a 9-0-1 conference mark in MVC play, winning the program's first-ever regular season championship and their second MVC tournament championship in three years. Following the season the Bears picked up three post-season awards from the MVC and the MoState coaching staff earned Coaching Staff of the Year.
In 2023, Herchenroeder helped lead the Bears to a 12-2-5 season with 13 shutouts. Herchenroeder oversaw the Bears' goalkeepers and defense that secured eight consecutive shutouts. MoState's Camielle Day was named the Missouri Valley Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and Carly Raunig was named MVC Defensive Player of the Year.
During the 2022 campaign, Herchenroeder's first season with the Bears, he helped MoState tie its single-season record for shutouts with 11. Under Herchenroeder, three defenders and one goalkeeper were named to All-MVC teams, and Carly Raunig was named MVC Defensive Player of the Year. The Bears posted a 12-7-2, going 7-2-1 in conference play to finish second in the MVC regular season standings, winning the MVC Tournament and clinching the program's first NCAA Tournament berth since 2017.
Prior to his time at Missouri State, Herchenroeder served as the women's soccer head coach at William Jewell from 2019-21. Previously Herchenroeder served as the associate head women's soccer coach at Sam Houston State, an assistant coach at Missouri State, the head goalkeeper coach and assistant varsity coach for both the boys and girls teams at Jefferson City High School for three seasons.
Herchenroeder earned a bachelor's degree in Sports Management from William Woods University in May of 2011. He also spent two seasons coaching at William Woods while earning his master's degree in Athletic/Activities Administration in 2014. He holds United States Soccer Federation National "C" license, in addition to having an NSCAA Goalkeeper Diploma and passing the D1 recruiting exam.
