Peyton Kohls connects on a PK in 78th minute to set final score at 4-1 in favor of the Dores
NASHVILLE -Â Xavier women's soccer fell, 4-1, to No. 3/2 Vanderbilt on Sunday evening at Vanderbilt Soccer/Lacrosse Complex.
The match remained scoreless through most of the first half, with Xavier taking a 4-3 advantage on shots into the 35th minute. Vanderbilt's fourth look of the evening, from Melania Fullerton, found the back of the net to give the Commodores the 1-0 lead. Vandy finished the first half with a 5-4 advantage on shots.
Shortly after halftime, Vanderbilt connected again to double the lead on a goal from Reagan Pentz, and less than 10 minutes later, a goal from Sydney Watts stretched the lead to 3-0. The Dores added a final tally in the 77th minute, on a goal from Megan Hinnenkamp.
After a foul on the Vanderbilt goalkeeper in the box in the 78th minute, Peyton Kohls attempted the first penalty kick of the season for the Musketeers, connecting to the upper left corner to get the Musketeers on the board, setting the final score at 4-1.
Kohl's goal was the first score allowed by the Commodores in over 245 minutes of action.
The Musketeers return home on Thursday, September 10, hosting Dayton at Corcoran Field. The Musketeers and the Flyers are set for a 6:30 p.m. start on XAVIER+.

- Maria Tapia and Sara Parker each recorded a pair of shots, with one look on-frame. Vanderbilt finished with a 22-6 advantage on shots overall.Â
- Taylor Thomas made the start in goal, playing 39:17 in frame and making a pair of saves with one goal against. Thomas also made a stop on a PK in the 40th minute before leaving due to injury.
- Sami Lipcon entered the game at goalkeeper following Thomas' injury, making a season-high six saves with three goals against in 50 minutes of action.
- Nastassja Garrett played the full 90 minutes on the Xavier backline.
