Musketeers Fall to Vanderbilt at Home

Xavier dropped a 15-2 contest to the Commodores on Saturday afternoon.
CINCINNATI - The Xavier lacrosse team lost their third straight match, 15-2, to Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon at Corcoran Field.
Olivia O'Hara and Greer Simonton each scored a goal while eight different Commodores found the back of the net.
Xavier goalkeepers Jada Brandon and Riley Ohrel combined for eight saves while freshman Ohrel played a season high 34 minutes.
The Musketeers forced 17 turnovers from the Commodores and only gave up 15 themselves.
XU will open the BIG EAST slate at Villanova next Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. opening draw in Pennsylvania.

Vanderbilt opened the game with a 6-0 scoring run in the first quarter. Xavier had three draw controls in the opening frame but gave up five turnovers.
The Commodores continued their scoring streak into the second quarter with another 4-0 burst. The Musketeers took seven shots including three from Samantha Balara but were unable to convert. XU was perfect on clears in the first half, but VU took a 10-0 lead into the locker room.
Vanderbilt scored two more goals to open the second half. Olivia O'Hara broke open the scoring for the Musketeers with under three minutes left in the third quarter, tallying her second career goal as the Commodores led 12-1 entering the final quarter.
Greer Simonton opened up the fourth quarter with her fourth goal of the season, but the Commodores ended the game on a 3-0 run to secure a 15-2 win.
