Kohls, O'Brien knock in first half goals, Parker scores game-winner early in second half

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer held off Indiana late to take a 3-2 win over the Hoosiers at Corcoran Field on Wednesday evening.

Xavier struck first, taking a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute on Peyton Kohls' first goal of the season, of an assist from Breanna Dardano. The Musketeers doubled the lead 10 minutes later, with Brooklyn O'Brien scoring from Maria Tapia, to take a two-goal lead into halftime.

Xavier had an 8-4 advantage on shots in the first half, with a 4-3 advantage on shots on-goal. Taylor Thomas collected a pair of first half saves in-goal to keep the Hoosiers off the board.

The Musketeers made it a 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the second half, with Sara Parker scoring off an assist from Kohls for the three-goal advantage.

Xavier held the three-goal lead and the shutout into the final five minutes, when the Hoosiers picked up a pair of goals, with Maggie Ledwith scoring in the 88th minute and Kennedy Neighbors adding a goal with less than 30 seconds remaining, setting the final score at 3-2. IU had a 9-4 advantage on shots in the second half, with seven of those coming in the final 10 minutes of the match.

The Musketeers return to the road, traveling to No. 3 Vanderbilt on Sunday, September 6, set for a 7:00 p.m. ET start.
