Women's Tennis Travels To Memphis to Face No. 55 Denver, University of Memphis this Weekend

Musketeers take on Pioneeers on Friday, Tigers on Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis heads to Memphis this weekend for a pair of matches against NCAA Tournament teams from last season, starting with No. 55 Denver on Friday, March 27, set for a 1:00 p.m. ET start at the University of Memphis. The Musketeers return to the courts at the University of Memphis on Saturday, March 28, to take on the Tigers, set for an 11:00 a.m. ET start.

DENVER
- The Pioneers, ranked No. 55 in the most recent ITA Team Rankings, are 10-5 on the season, and enter the match-up with the Musketeers on a three-match win streak after topping Memphis on Wednesday.
- Denver went 12-10 last season with a 6-0 mark in Summit League play. The Pioneers took wins over North Dakota in the semifinals and Omaha in the finals of the league tournament to win the Summit League Championship and earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
- Denver fell, 4-0, to No. 4 Oklahoma in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
MEMPHIS
- The Tigers enter the weekend at 2-13 on the season, picking up wins over Southeast Missouri State and No. 52 Columbia.
- Memphis went 10-14 least season with a 2-3 mark in American Conference play. In the American Conference Championship, the Tigers took wins over South Florida, Charlotte, Rice and Tulsa to win the league title and earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
- The Tigers fell to No. 18 Southern Cal in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
- Xavier won the last match-up between the two programs, taking a 4-1 win over the Tigers last season at Purdue.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Next weekend, Xavier travels north for a pair of BIG EAST matches, starting with a trip to Milwaukee, Wisc., to face Marquette on Friday, April 3, set for a 3 p.m. ET start.
- The Musketeers will then face DePaul on Saturday, April 4 in Chicago, set for a 4:30 p.m. ET start.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.Â
- Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
- The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
- Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
