Musketeers and Beavers wrap up series on Monday at 8:35 PM ET

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Xavier baseball fell in the third game of the four-game series at Oregon State, 17-2, on Sunday evening at Goss Stadium.

After a scoreless first, the Beavers took a 2-0 lead in the second, and added six runs in both the fourth and fifth frames to lead 14-0. Oregon State picked up another run in the sixth to lead 15-0, taking the shutout in to the eighth.

The Musketeers got on the board in the top of the eighth, with Jason Jelic leading off the inning with a single and Peter Johnson following with a home run to center field to make it 15-2. The Beavers scored two runs in the bottom of the frame to set the final score at 17-2.

The series finale with the Beavers is set for an 8:35 p.m. ET start on Monday, March 9, streamed live on Pac-12 Insider.

AT THE PLATE

Peter Johnson drove in two RBIs and scored a run after hitting his second home run of the season.
Jason Jelic finished 1-1, getting on with a single in the eighth as a pinch hitter and scoring on Johnson's homer.
Jorge Valdes finished 2-4 with a walk in his debut as a Musketeer.
Josh Stonehouse recorded a pair of hits (2-3) including a double, and got aboard on a hit-by-pitch.
Luke Hammond (1-2) and Jonathan Fitz (1-3) each recorded a hit on an eight-hit day for the Musketeers.
Tanner Thomas got aboard with a walk and Clay Burdette got on with a hit-by-pitch.

Jack DeTienne made the start, allowing two runs on two hits and six walks in 2.2 innings of work.
Jake Hooker pitched 0.2 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on five hits and three walks.
Asher DeLeo went 0.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing four runs on on hit, one walk and a pair of hit batters.
Joey Arend made his first pitching appearance as a Musketeers, going 2.1 innings with three runs allowed on six hits and two walks, striking out a pair.
Trevor Geddes pitched the final 1.2 innings, allowing two runs on one hit and four walks, striking out a pair
