Baseball Drops Series Finale No. 18 Oregon State

Musketeers take on Oregon Ducks in first of two games on Tuesday evening
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Xavier baseball dropped the finale of the four-game series at Oregon State, 7-2, on Monday evening at Goss Stadium.
Xavier took the lead in the fourth on a solo home run from Clay Burdette, and took the 1-0 lead into the sixth, where the Musketeers added another run. Jorge Valdes led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a balk and third on a ground ball from Eddie Peters. A fly ball from Burdette brought Valdes home to make it a 2-0 Xavier lead.
Ashton Chronister made the start on the mound for the Musketeers, pitching 5.0 scoreless innings. The Musketeers' defense held the Beavers off the board until the seventh, where Oregon State plated six runs to move in front. OSU picked up another run in the eighth to set the final score at 7-2 in favor of the Beavers.
Xavier heads to Eugene, Ore., to take on the Oregon Ducks for a pair of games, set for Tuesday, March 10 and Wednesday, March 11, both set for 6:05 p.m. ET starts on the Big Ten Network Plus.
