NEW YORK - Left-handed pitcher Evan Vasiliou earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.
Vasiliou, a senior from El Cajon, Calif., made two appearances last week, posting a 0.00 ERA though 5.0 innings pitched. In Xavier's 13-4 win over Ohio State, Vasiliou entered with two on and no outs in the ninth and pitched the final 1.0 inning without allowing a hit or a walk, picking up a strikeout to end the game.
In Xavier's 4-2 loss in the series opener at No. 18 Oregon State, he entered for the fifth, pitching the final 4.0 innings without allowing a run. He allowed four hits and finished with one strikeout without issuing a walk.
Xavier is back in action on Monday evening, play the finale of the four-game series at No. 18 Oregon State, set for an 8:35 p.m ET first pitch.
