Xavier faces No. 2 seed DePaul in Semifinals on Saturday morning

CAYCE, S.C. - Xavier men's tennis picked up win No. 10 for the season with a 4-3 victory over Creighton in the BIG EAST Championship Quarterfinals, advancing in the league tournament for the second year in a row. The Musketeers have hit double figures wins in four of the last five seasons.

The Musketeers are now set to take part in the BIG EAST Championship Semifinals for a second-straight season, taking on No. 2 seed DePaul on Saturday morning. The Blue Demons are 10-12 on the season and advanced to the Semifinals with a 4-0 win over Marquette.

The Match

Creighton picked up the doubles point on victories over Nick Herdoiza and Andrew Spurck, 6-4, on the No. 2 court and Bode Campbell and Kyle Totorica, 6-2, on the No. 3 court.

Bode Campbell evened the score, picking up a point for the Musketeers on the No. 5 singles court, 2-6, 6-0, 6-3. Alex Kotarski put Xavier in front at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 win.

Creighton leveled the score with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 result at No. 4 singles over Andrew Spurck and moved in front with victory over Max Pettingell, 7-6 (5), 6-4, on the No. 3 court to make it a 3-2 CU lead.

Xavier answered on court No. 1 with Nick Herdoiza taking a 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 win to even the match at 3-3.

Freshman Lukas Grossman clinched the match for the Musketeers, coming from behind to take a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.
