Musketeers take on Bluejays in elimination game at 6 PM
The Musketeers moved to 28-29 overall on the season, while St. John's moved to 32-24 on the year.
St. John's took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the first. Xavier posted three runs on four hits in the third to move in front. Donavan Canterberry and Jorge Valdes got aboard with singles and Josh Stonehouse got aboard with a hit-by-pitch to load the bases with one out. Jonathan Fitz brought in Canterberry with a groundball to tie it at 1-1. Valdes scored on a single from Luke Hammond to put Xavier in front 2-1, and a single from Tommy Townsend brought in Stonehouse for the 2-1 lead.
The Red Storm scored five runs in the third and six in the fourth to take a 12-3 lead. A solo home run from Hammond in the fifth cut the lead to eight, 12-4, but the Red Storm got the run back in the bottom of the frame. Landon Mensik led off the sixth with a walk, moved to second on a single from Tanner Thomas and third on a walk from Canterberry. A single from Clay Burdette brought him in.
St. John's posted a four-run sixth frame to lead 17-5. A solo home run from Tanner Thomas in the eighth set the final score at 17-6.
Xavier takes on No. 4 seed Creighton on Saturday evening, set for a 6:00 p.m. start at Prasco Park.

- Luke Hammond finished with two RBIs and a run scored after going 2-3 at the plate, hitting his eighth home run of the season.
- Clay Burdette brought in an RBI with a single, going 1-4 at the plate.
- Tanner Thomas went 2-4 with an RBI and run scored after hitting his fourth home run of the season.

- Joey Young entered with two on and no outs in the fourth, going 1.1 inning with two runs allowed on four hits, finishing with one strikeout.
- Jake Hooker entered with two on and one out in the fifth, going 1.1 inning with four runs allowed on four hits, walking one.
- Jack DeTienne pitched the final 2.1 inning without allowing a run, giving up just one hit and strikint out three.
