Ekene Okeke Named to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll

NEW YORK - Ekene Okeke was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, earning the honors for the third time in as many weeks.

The senior defender helped the Musketeers go 1-0 last week with a 1-0 win at St. Thomas on Sunday, Sept. 13. Okeke played all 90 minutes vs the Tommies as the Musketeers posted their third shutout of the season.

Xavier's defense held the Tommies to only two shots (zero on goal), the second time the Musketeers have limited a team to two shots (zero on goal) this season. Xavier also held Bellarmine to two shots (zero on goal) on Aug. 25.

Xavier has not allowed a goal since Aug. 31 at Northwestern at the 80:50 mark. The Musketeers have gone 189:10 without allowing a goal.

Okeke and the Musketeers have posted a 0.60 goals against average this season, ranking tied for first in the BIG EAST.

Xavier opens BIG EAST action at DePaul on Friday, Sept. 18. First touch is set for 4 p.m. ET from Wish Field.
