Xavier posted a 2-0 win over Villanova on Saturday night

CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer remained unbeaten on the year with a 2-0 win over Villanova on Saturday night at Corcoran Field.

The Musketeers improve to 6-0-2 (1-0-1), while Villanova drops to 4-4-1 (0-0-2).

Xavier returns to action on Friday, Oct. 2 vs Marquette. First touch is set for 6:30 p.m. from Corcoran Field.

NOTABLES

Xavier now has five shutouts in eight matches this season. The Musketeers only had four shutouts during the 2025 season.
The Musketeers have surpassed their win total from last year with a 6-0-2 record (went 5-6-4 in 2025).
Xavier took a season-high 25 shots for the second time in as many matches. The Musketeers took 18 more shots (25-7) than Villanova, including 11 more shots on goal (13-2).
Xavier took six more corner kicks (8-2) than the Wildcats and committed five fewer fouls (17-12). Villanova was issued four yellow cards, while Xavier was issued three.
Eight different Musketeers took a shot in the match, paced by Jose Pedro who took five. Beckham Williams added four shots.
Karson Vazquez took a team-high three shots for Villanova. Alex Yagudayev (4-3-1) took the loss in goal. He made 11 saves and allowed two goals.
Jonny Mennell (6-0-2) earned the win in goal for the Musketeers, recording two saves and posting his fourth shutout of the season. He now has a 0.52 goals against average on the year with 19 saves.
Jonny Mennell (22-17-16) has a program-best 23 career shutouts with a 1.01 goals against average (fourth in school history) and 175 saves (eighth in school history). His 22 wins in goal ranks third in school history.
Nolan Brice scored his third goal of the season vs the Wildcats, ranking tied for first on the team in goals. He now has 10 career points (four goals, two assists).
Freshman Beckham Williams scored his second goal of the season. He now ranks tied for third on the team in points with five (two goals, one assist).
Alejandro Silvestrini posted his team-leading fifth assist of the season. He is the first Musketeer with five or more assists in a season since Jerome Jolly in 2020 (six assists).
Sophomore Johnny Gourley recorded an assist in the win, the first assist of his Xavier career.
Xavier improved to 6-3-2 all-time vs the Wildcats with a 3-1-1 record when playing in Cincinnati.
Xavier remains unbeaten at 6-0-2, the longest unbeaten streak to start the season since 2022, when the Musketeers started the season at 9-0-5.
