Kate Achter was named an assistant women's basketball coach on May 28, 2015 after previously serving as the associate head coach at St. Bonaventure.
In her first season at Xavier, Achter helped the Musketeers post their second consecutive winning season - the school's 22nd winning season since the 1982-83 season. She also assisted in coaching Briana Glover to All-BIG EAST Honorable Mention Team honors.
Achter spent four seasons as an assistant coach on the Bonnies staff before being elevated to associate head coach in 2014. She assisted in coaching seven players to All-Atlantic 10 honors, including three players who earned first-team recognition.
The Oregon, Ohio, native helped the Bonnies earn three postseason berths, including a NCAA Sweet 16 appearance in 2011-12. The Bonnies posted three seasons with 20 or more wins, highlighted by a school record 31 victories during the 2011-12 campaign.
Achter spent two years as a graduate assistant at her alma mater Bowling Green State University, working in the development and strength and conditioning departments before coaching at St. Bonaventure. She played professionally for one season with Palaio Faliro in Athens, Greece after graduating from BGSU in 2008.
During her playing career, the All-American point guard helped the Falcons capture four consecutive Mid-American Conference titles with three NCAA Appearances -- including a Sweet 16 berth in 2007. The Falcons posted a record of 108-21 in four seasons with Achter. She finished her career with 1,580 points to rank fifth in school history, while ranking as the school's all-time leader in assists (688) and free throws made (551).
