Atlantic 10 Conference Honors Lauren Giesting

Sara Bachus, a senior outside hitter from Cincinnati?s Seton High School, earned her third A-10 Volleyball Player-of-the-Week award already this season. Bachus hit .470 on the week as Xavier improved to 5-2 in the Atlantic 10 and remained undefeated at home with a 7-0 record. Bachus recorded a career-high 28 kills in a four-game win over Duquesne on Oct. 2, and a match-high 24 kills in a 3-1 win over Temple on Oct. 5. On Oct. 6 she added 15 kills in a three game sweep of La Salle.
Lauren Giesting, a freshman forward from Cincinnati?s McAuley High School, was named A-10 Women?s Soccer Rookie-of-the-Week for the second straight week. Giesting tallied a hat trick, including the game-winner in overtime, as Xavier defeated George Washington (4-3) on Friday for its first Atlantic 10 victory of the season. She leads Xavier in goals (five) and points (10). In fact, all three of Giesting's goals on the season have been game-winners.
Molly Martin, a freshman setter from Minnetonka, Minn., was named A-10 Volleyball Rookie-of-the-Week for the second time this season. In three Xavier wins, Martin dished out 166 assists (15.09 per game), including a career-high 66 in a 3-1 win over Duquesne on Oct. 2. She recorded 59 assists in a 3-1 win over Temple (Oct. 5) and 41 in a three-game sweep of La Salle (Oct. 6).
Kerry Hils, a junior from Moberly, Mo., was named Women's Cross Country Performer-of-the-Week for the fourth straight week. Hils once again had a great week, placing third at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships with a time of 18:09.8, while helping Xavier place fifth out of 35 teams.
Lauren Clary, a freshman from Terre Haute, Ind., was named A-10 Women?s Tennis Rookie-of-the-Week. Clary won her singles and doubles matches this past week in a match against Wright State, raising her record to 7-1 in singles and 7-0 in doubles play this season.
