Xavier Head Coach Notches His 100th Career Win

With the win, Xavier head coach Ron Quinn earned the 100th win of his Xavier career. Quinn, who is in his eighth year at the helm at Xavier, is 100-63-9.
Butler struck first in this one as junior forward Martha Gudiel found the back of the net at the 26:11 mark off assists from sophomore forward Annie Doerr and sophomore forward Krista Rott.
Xavier wasted little time in knotting the game up at 1-1. Sophomore forward Tracy Veith (Cincinnati/St. Ursula) scored her first goal of the season at the 29:57 mark off an assist from sophomore midfielder Nicole Giesting (Cincinnati/McAuley). Nicole?s sister, freshman forward Lauren Giesting (Cincinnati/McAuley), scored what proved to be the game-winner at the 39:22 mark off an assist from fellow freshman forward Melissa Clavier (Cincinnati/Mercy). Nicole Giesting closed out the scoring with the only second half goal for either team, finding the back of the net at 59:18 off an assist from sophomore midfielder Lindsay Yonadi (Boca Raton, FL/Spanish River).
Xavier outshot Butler 25-9, including a 13-5 advantage in shots on goal.
The Musketeers hit the road again next weekend for a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference matches, including a match on Friday at George Washington and Sunday at Richmond. XU enters next weekend with an 0-1 A-10 mark.
