CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team battled with Bowling Green for five hours on Saturday afternoon before a winner was decided with the Falcons pulling out a 4-3 win in a match that saw four of the six singles matches go to the third set. XU falls to 4-2 with the loss while BG improves to 5-4.
XU went up early in the match with victories in two of the three doubles matches. At No. 1, Kristen Clary and Kara Courtney improved to 5-1 in dual action with an 8-4 defeat of Ashley Jakupcin and Jenna Nussbaum. The junior tandem of Alicia Papa and Jackie Vilines clinched the doubles point for the Musketeers at No. 2 where they recorded an 8-6 win over Kelsey Jakupcin and Heidi Romer.

Xavier will return to the courts on Tuesday, Feb. 28 when the Musketeers travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on the 49ers.
