Women's Tennis Set For Road Matches at Marquette and DePaul

Musketeers take on Golden Eagles on Friday, Blue Demons on Saturday
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis travels north for a pair of BIG EAST matches this weekend, starting with a trip to Milwaukee, Wisc., to face Marquette on Friday, April 3, set for a 12 p.m. ET start. The Musketeers will then face DePaul on Saturday, April 4, in Chicago, set for a 4:30 p.m. ET start.

MARQUETTE
- The Golden Eagles are 7-12 overall and 1-3 in BIG EAST play, taking a win over Providence and falling to Creighton, Georgetown and UConn.
- Last season, Marquette went 3-19 overall, falling to Georgetown in the first round of the BIG EAST Tournament.
- Xavier took a 7-0 win over the Golden Eagles last season in Cincinnati.
DEPAUL
- The Blue Demons are 10-8 overall and 6-0 in BIG EAST play, topping Creighton, Georgetown, UConn, Butler, St. John's and Seton Hall.
- DePaul went 10-11 last season, with a 4-4 mark in conference play. The Blue Demons fell to Villanova in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals.
- Xavier took a 6-1 win over the Blue Demons in Cincinnati last season.
WEEKLY AWARDS
- Abby Nugent and Clara Owen were named the BIG EAST Doubles Team of the Week after the pair went 2-0 in No. 1 doubles spot during a 2-0 weekend for Xavier in Memphis.
- Against Denver, Nugent, a senior from Springboro, Ohio, and Owen, a sophomore from Dayton Ohio, clinched the point on court No. 1, 7-6 (3) to help Xavier to the 4-2 win over the No. 59 Pioneers. The pair also combined to take a 6-2 win in No. 1 doubles to help clinch the doubles point in the 4-1 win over Memphis.Â
- This is the pair's third weekly honor of the season, also earning the honor the weeks of 2/9 and 3/16.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
- Next weekend, Xavier wraps up the regular season by hosting Butler on Saturday, April 11 for Senior Day.
THE MUSKETEERS
- Xavier returns eight players from last season's BIG EAST Championship winning squad, including senior Abby Nugent, a 2025 All-BIG EAST First Team selection, and 2025 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and All-BIG EAST Second Team selection Madeleine Rexroat.Â
- Sophomore Clara Owen, who partnered with Nugent as one of the top doubles team in the country, returns, as well as seniors Abigail Siminski and Emily Flowers, juniors Ellie Brotherton and Sofia Mazzucato, and sophomore Natalie Smitek.
- The Musketeers added freshman Ella DeFord, a five-star recruit from Mount Pleasant, S.C., to the roster.
- Xavier finished the 2025 dual season at 14-9 and won the program's fifth-straight and sixth overall BIG EAST Championship, earning the program's sixth bid to the NCAA Championships.
