INDIANAPOLIS- Xavier women's tennis team took the match from IUPUI, 6-1, on the road. This is the seventh straight match victory by the team this season.
Senior Andrea Wolf started the dual off strong winning her match at the No. 5 position, 6-0, 6-0, over Abbey Neff. Sydney Liggins, at the No. 2 position, took the match from Rachel Swartwood, 6-2, 6-0.
Junior Daniella Patton not only won her singles match, 6-2, 6-0, but won her doubles match 8-3 with freshman doubles partner Cristina Di Lorenzo, 8-3. The pairing continues their perfect season with the win this evening.
Alex Brinker and Di Lorenzo both won their matches at the No. 1 and No. 3 position, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-2, 6-1, respectively.
Again XU doubles proved relentless with quick wins from Di Lorenzo and Patton and Allyson Westling and Wolf, sending Brinker and Liggins's match to a did not finish status while they were leading 6-3.
"This team is so much fun to coach," said assistant coach Doug Matthews. "They bring it every day. Winning seven matches in a row adds to the fun, but it is great to see them compete the way they do. This next week will be a good week to focus on practice and getting healthy before heading down to Florida on Saturday."
Xavier is off a week until they travel to sunny Florida Saturday, March 1, for two matches against Davidson and Florida Atlantic during the week.
