CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer announced an addition to the roster on Thursday, welcoming graduate transfer goalkeeper Dallas Jaye from the University of South Florida. Jaye is enrolled in classes and will be eligible for the Musketeers' spring season while having one full season of eligibility remaining.
"Dallas is a seasoned veteran of Top 25 soccer and impressed me with his maturity, academic performance and skill set," said head coach Andy Fleming. "Things like being the president of SAAC at USF stood out to me. I think he will add instant credibility from a leadership standpoint and will create an exciting competition with our two returning goalkeepers during the spring season. His quickness and ability to organize his team and read the game, particularly off of his line, will fit in nicely here and certainly make our decisions when picking the team a challenging one."
During his first four seasons at USF, Jaye platooned in and out of the starting lineup. In 2012, he made a career-high seven starts and shared time with this year's BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year -- Eric Osswald -- who transferred from USF to Xavier after that season.
Jaye shared three shutouts over the past two seasons, while appearing for the Guam national team on four occasions. He served as the president of USF's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and was an AAC All-Academic pick in 2013. He will pursue his MBA at Xavier.
Originally from San Ramon, Calif., Jaye was a four-year starter with the United States Soccer Federation Development Academy (USSFDA) and was named the 2010 USSFDA Goalkeeper of the Year. He was rated the 47th best recruit in the 2011 class by TopDrawerSoccer.com and was a member of the National Honor Society at San Ramon Valley High School.
