
Women’s Tennis Drops Close Match To Louisville, 4-3

LOUISVILLE – The Xavier women's tennis team dropped a close match against Louisville Sunday afternoon, 4-3. The Musketeers are now 2-2 on the season.
The doubles point was earned by Louisville with Olivia Boesing and Sena Suswam beating Alex Brinker and Cristina Di Lorenzo, 6-1, and Elle Stokes and Ariana Rodriguez defeating Lauren Ghidotti and Sophia Abelson, 6-4.
Di Lorenzo quickly bounced back for the Musketeers by winning her No. 2 singles match against Stokes, 6-1, 6-1, to tie the match 1-1. At No. 1 singles, Sydney Liggins beat Suswam, 6-3, 6-2.
Ghidotti was beat by Boesing, 6-4, 6-3, and Brinker was beat Jessie Lynn Paul, 7-5, 6-3, to give Louisville the 3-2 edge on Xavier.
Louisville captured the match with Rodriguez beating Abelson, 7-5, 6-4.
Singles play wrapped up with Amina Ismail beating Abbie Pahz, 7-5, 7-6 (4) at the No. 3 singles position earning Xavier's third point of the match.
"I am very proud of our team. In the past we would be excited to go 4-3 with Louisville," said head coach Doug Matthews. "Tonight we were upset we did not get the job done.We believe we can compete with anyone. We need to keep building on that belief."
Xavier is back in action Friday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m. against Eastern Kentucky at Eastern Hills Indoor Tennis Club.
