Gina Genco also posted the 10th fastest time in school history
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Madeline Britton posted the third fastest 5K time in school history on Saturday as the Xavier cross country teams wrapped up action at the Louisville Classic. The meet was held at the E. P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park.
The Xavier women placed 15th (out of 26) in the gold division, while the men took 31st (out of 31). The women ran a 5K race and the men completed an 8K race.
Madeline Britton - 47th, 17:38.60 *third fastest time in XU history
Gina Genco - 86th, 18:00.00 *10th fastest time in XU history
Alondra Hoyos - 87th, 18:02.10
Allison Sinning - 111th, 18:11.40
Delainey Burnett - 124th, 18:15.40
"The women's team goal was to get out there today and show that we're a much better team then how we raced at Notre Dame two weeks ago. I think we accomplished that from top to bottom and I know we can build off of today's results. I was really happy with both our 1-5 split and our 2-5 split, but over the next two weeks we need to work on getting our 2-5 runners to go out with more confidence during the early stages of the race."
"It was really nice to have Maddie back in the lineup this week. For her first race of the year, I thought Maddie ran really well. Most of the girls she was racing have at least two races under their legs and some of them have three races under their legs. Now that Maddie has had her rust-buster, I'm confident she will improve significantly at Bradley."
Charles Korodi - 134th, 25:48.42
Grant Parrelli - 207th, 26:27. 24
Aaron Peterson - 212th, 26:29.24
Matt Mekaelian - 214th, 26:31.70
John Hautz - 222nd, 26:36.59
"I think our men's team had a solid improvement from our last meet. Almost everyone had their fastest 8K time of the season and most of all, they responded really well over the second half of the race. Both Grayson and Charlie had very good races and I think they can still drop another 30-45 seconds off their times come BIG EAST."
