Musketeers Improve to 2-0 on the Season with Win Over Southeast Missouri

Women's Basketball defeated Southeast Missouri Friday to improve to 2-0 on the season.
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball improved to 2-0 on Friday after defeating the Southeast Missouri Redhawks, 54-48, at Cintas Center. The Musketeers had three players score in double-figures. The game had five lead changes and four tied scores throughout the competition, with the Musketeers ultimately coming out on top.
Xavier continues its home-stand against North Florida on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.

GAME NOTES |
- Maddison Blackwell recorded the fifth double-double of her career adding 13 points and 11 rebounds to the Musketeers win.
- Leah Schaefer had four blocks in the game, tying her career high.
- Maddison Blackwell scored a game high of 13 points, going 6-10 from the field and 1-1 from the foul line.
- The Musketeers forced 16 turnovers, to score 12 points off the the mistakes.
- Kindell Fincher, Raeshaun Gaffney and Maddison Blackwell all scored in double figures for the Musketeers. This makes this the 35th time Gaffney has scored in double figures, the 13th time for Blackwell and the eighth time for Fincher.

FIRST QUARTER |
- Xavier started off fast paced with a 9-5 run. XU ended the first quarter leading the Redhawks by four.
- The Musketeers had 13 rebounds to end the first quarter with Marquia Turner, Maddison Blackwell and Raeshaun Gaffney leading the way for Xavier.

SECOND QUARTER |
- Freshman Na'Teshia Owens had a wide open fast break resulting from a steal to add to a Musketeers 7-0 run.
- Xavier went into halftime shooting 37.0 percent from the field and leading the Redhawks, 27-20.

THIRD QUARTER |
- Southeast Missouri went on a 12-4 run to start the second half, giving the Redhawks their first lead of the game at 32-31.
- Marquia Turner helped tie the game back up, 34-34, with a free throw along with a three pointer from Imani Partlow.

FOURTH QUARTER |
- Xavier went 46.2 percent from the field and 80.0 percent from the foul line to add to its lead. Raeshaun Gaffney went 4-4 from the free throw line and Maddison Blackwell went 3-4 form the field.
- The Musketeers outscored the Redhawks, 20-14 in the fourth quarter, with a 12-5 run to end the game.
