Xavier returns to action Tuesday at Louisville for 6 p.m. game

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Xavier baseball dropped game three of its weekend series at No. 2 Vanderbilt on Sunday evening. The Commodores topped the Musketeers, 5-2, at Hawkins Field.

Vanderbilt moved to 15-1 on the year, while Xavier dropped to 3-11.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier collected 11 hits total, getting multi-hit performances from Will LaRue, Matt Fallon and Chris Givin.
• Will LaRue had a career-high four hits (4-for-5, R, RBI) and stole two bases at the top of the order.
• Blaine Griffiths, Daniel Rizzie (1-for-5), Andre Jernigan (1-for-2), Chris Givin (2-for-4) and Matt Fallon (2-for-3).

XU ON THE MOUND

• Trent Astle (0-2) and Damien Richard combined to pitch the first four innings, allowing four runs and striking out three.
• Brad Kirschner tossed two innings, allowing one earned run.
• Garrett Schilling tossed two scoreless innings to end the game, striking out three and allowing just one hit. The sophomore has now gone four innings without allowing a run, lowering his ERA to 2.79.

HOW THE MUSKETEERS SCORED

FIFTH INNING: Will LaRue singled through the left side, knocking in Matt Fallon.
SEVENTH INNING: Blaine Griffiths doubled down the left field line, scoring Will LaRue.
