Musketeers looking for back-to-back road wins
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer (5-2-1) looks for a second-straight road win on Friday, taking on Ohio University at Chessa Field in Athens, Ohio. The Musketeers and the Bobcats are set for a 4:00 p.m. first kick.

•  OU (2-3-1) is coming off a 1-0 overtime loss to Robert Morris last Sunday. After the two teams played to a scoreless draw through 90 minutes of regulation, RMU scored in the second minute of extra time to take the win.Â
•  Ohio has played overtime in four of six matches this season, playing Marshall to a 2-2 draw for it's last result. The Bobcats' two losses were both by a score of 2-1 on golden goals in extra time, one in the season opener at Butler, and the other on Aug. 28 against High Point.Â

• Ohio picked up wins against Dayton (2-1) and at Cleveland State (5-0).

• Through six games, junior midfielder Bryce Hueber leads the Bobcats with six points on two goals and two assists. Hueber's pair of goals are matched by Courtney Daugerdas and Alexis Milesky for team high. Sydney Leckie and Remi Eades each have two assists to match Hueber for team high.

•  Two Bobcats have split time in goal this season, each appearing in three games and playing over 280 minutes on the season. Vanessa Cordoba started the first three matches in frame, collecting 17 saves for a 77.3 save percentage, and allowing five goals for 1.59 GAA. Erin Beurket started the three most recent matches for the Bobcats, collecting 24 saves while allowing three goals for a save percentage of 88.9 and a 0.92 GAA.

•  The Musketeers are 5-2-0 all time against the Bobcats in a series that dates back to 1997. In the most recent matchup, Ohio grabbed the 2-1 win at Xavier in 2015, ending a three-game win streak for Xavier against OU.
•   In last season's matchup, Ohio took a 2-0 lead into the final 10 minutes of the match. Kenadie Carlson scored in the 81st to draw the Musketeers within one but Xavier was unable to find the equalizer.

• Xavier picked up its fifth win of the season on Sunday, holding off a Youngstown State squad that answered nearly every Musketeer attack for a 3-2 win.

•  Xavier struck first, going ahead in the 32nd minute on Tori Doss' third goal of the season, knocking the ball in off the assist from Samantha Dewey.

• After Youngstown State tied it up in the first half, the Musketeers retook the lead in the second half when Dewey, off the assist from Kenadie Carlson, used a header to get the ball into the left corner of the goal in the 60th minute.

• YSU again responded, tying the game at 2-2 shortly after, but the Musketeers continued to pressure on offense in the second half, taking 11 of XU's 15 total shots after the break. Xavier retook the lead again in the 73rd minute when Carlson took advantage of YSU miscues to get the ball over the goalkeeper's head, giving Xavier a 3-2 lead on her second goal of the season.

• The Musketeers finished with six shots on goal, with another three attempts on frame that hit off the crossbar.
• Rachel Piccus and Toni Bizzarro split time in frame for a third straight game, with Piccus starting the match, and Bizzarro finishing the game out. Each finished with a save and a goal against, with Bizzarro picking up the second win of her college career. The backline of Carly Alfano, Ellie Eckerle and Courtney Kobashigawa each played the full 90 minutes.

• After Toni Bizzarro made her college debut against NKU, she appeared in each of the Musketeers' three matches last week, playing the second half for a total of 135 minutes. In her first appearance, she collected a pair of saves to hold the Norse scoreless in the second half, picking up her first collegiate win. Bizzarro also posted a clean sheet through 45 minutes against Duquesne, making four saves to keep the Dukes from extending the lead in the Xavier setback. Bizzarro also picked up another win at Youngstown State on Sunday, finishing the week with seven saves for a .875 save percentage while allowing only one goal on the way to a 2-0 record.

• In the backfield with Piccus, Carly Alfano is averaging over 87 minutes of action in six appearances including 102 minutes in the double overtime match at Ball State. Courtney Kobashigawa chips in nearly 86 minutes per game and Ellie Eckerle is averaging just over 81.75 minutes through eight games as part of a defense that is holding teams to 1.13 goals per game.

•  Toni Bizzarro was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the week after appearing in-goal in three matches for the Musketeers last week. Bizzarro made her first collegiate appearance against NKU on Sept. 6, splitting time with Rachel Piccus in frame in all three of the Musketeers' matches this week to total 135 minutes. In three appearances, she collected seven saves for a .875 save percentage while allowing only one goal on the way to a 2-0 record. This is the first weekly award of Bizzarro's career.

•  Kenadie Carlson earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after she totaled five points through three games to help the Musketeers to a 2-1 record during the past week. After the Musketeers fell behind 1-0 at NKU, Carlson scored her first of the season just out of the halftime break to tie the game which the Musketeers won on a last second goal. Carlson collected another three points in the win at Youngstown State, assisting on Samantha Dewey's goal in the 60th minute and scoring the game-winner in the 73rd. This is Carlson's first weekly award of the season.
