Men's Soccer Appears in First National Top 25 of Season

Musketeers are ranked No. 23 in Top Drawer Soccer Poll
CINCINNATI – Xavier men's soccer has broken into the national rankings for the first time in 2016, checking in at No. 23 in the Top Drawer Soccer National Poll. The Musketeers are also receiving votes in the NSCAA Coaches Poll for the first time this season. XU is in the College Soccer News Top 30 for a sixth straight week.
Xavier (4-2-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) is coming off back-to-back shutouts to begin league play, including the program's first win at Georgetown this past Saturday.
The Musketeers are one of three BIG EAST schools in the Top Drawer Soccer Top 25, joining Butler (9) and Creighton (10) in this week's rankings.
In the College Soccer News Poll, Xavier is also one of three BIG EAST schools to appear. Butler (6) and Creighton (10) are in the top-10, while the Musketeers are receiving votes. XU has been receiving votes in the CSN Poll since the preseason.
• Xavier (4-2-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) continues its longest road stretch of the season, traveling to Providence to continue BIG EAST action on Saturday, Oct. 1. First touch is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.
• Xavier men's soccer has reached the NCAA Tournament in four of the last six seasons.
• The Musketeers finished 2015 at 12-6-1 overall, marking a sixth straight season with at least 10 wins – one of just 12 programs that can claim the feat.
• Last fall also marked Xavier's third straight finish in the top-four of the BIG EAST.
• XU was ranked in the nation's top-10 by the NSCAA for the third time in four years, while knocking of the national No. 1 (Creighton) and No. 2 (Notre Dame) on the road last season. The Musketeers are widely believed to be the first program to ever knock off both a No. 1 and a No. 2 on the road in the same season.
