Cross country returns to action on Saturday at the Louisville Classic
CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Xavier cross country competed at the All-Ohio Invitational on Friday evening hosted by Cedarville University. The Musketeer men placed eighth, while the women took ninth.
Xavier split its squads this weekend as the Musketeers' varsity roster will compete at the Louisville Classic on Saturday, Oct. 1.
"It rained heavily throughout the day and the men's race was delayed due to lightning," said assistant coach Jesse Fuca. 'We didn't expect times to be super fast but just wanted to see the team really come out and compete."
Sarah Billingsley - 47th, 24:04.60
Haley Jerabek - 48th, 24:05.40
Katherine Hiskes - 53rd, 24:39.60
Victoria Chiller - 56th, 24:44.20
Devi Jagadesan - 57th, 24:45.60
"On the women's side, Sarah Billingsley was our top performer. She positioned herself well throughout the race and can use today to keep building toward her goals."
1. Miami (Ohio) - 42 pts.
2. Dayton - 47 pts.
3. Ohio State - 68 pts.
4. Wright State - 100 pts.
5. Cincinnati - 116 pts.
6. Akron - 140 pts.
7. Cleveland State - 192 pts.
8. Ohio - 197 pts.
9. Xavier - 259 pts.
Garrett Knapik - 34th, 26:37.00
William Becker - 44th, 27:33.70
Kevin Menyes - 45th, 27:42.60
Carter Macey - 47th, 27:59.00
Benjanmin Bockoven - 50th, 28:53.00
"On the men's side Garrett and Kevin stood out to me. Garret was our top performer and needed a bounce back race. He got out aggressively and fought hard throughout the race. This was definitely a step in the right direction for him as he works his way back to where he expects to be."
"Kevin, despite the course conditions and weather conditions managed a personal best time. Any time you can run faster than you ever have in your life it's a win, but to do it on a day like today displayed a toughness that will hopefully forecast bigger things to come for the freshman."
1. Ohio State - 58 pts.
2. Dayton - 61 pts.
3. Cincinnati - 65 pts.
4. Miami (Ohio) - 69 pts.
