Musketeers stand in fourth place in conference with chance to host BIG EAST Championship game on the line
CINCINNATI – Xavier women's soccer (8-6-4; 4-2-2 BIG EAST) closes out the regular season on the road on Thursday, Oct. 26 when the Musketeers travel to RV Georgetown to face the Hoyas at 2:00 p.m.
The match, with implications for seeding in the BIG EAST Championship, will be live streamed on the BIG EAST Digital Network.

BIG EAST CHAMPIONSHIP |
- With a BIG EAST record of 4-2-2 going into the final game, Xavier secured its first bid to the BIG EAST Championship, and its first post-season appearance since 2003. The Musketeers are also guaranteed to finish with a winning record in conference play for the first time since 2005, when Xavier finished 4-3-2 in Atlantic 10 play.
- The Musketeers currently stand in fourth place, and are currently competing for the chance to host games, dependent upon the outcome of the game with Georgetown, and other games around the league.
- The six-team tournament features first round byes for the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds. The quarterfinal games will occur on Sunday, Oct. 29, with the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds hosting.
- The semi-final games will occur on Thursday, Nov. 2 and will be hosted by the No. 1 and No. 2 seeded teams.
- The BIG EAST Championship game is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5th.

- The Hoyas enter the game at 11-3-3 overall and 5-1-2 in BIG EAST to stand in first place.
- GU is coming off a 0-0 double overtime draw with at No. 22 Butler. Creighton also played Georgetown to a draw, 1-1, on October 5.
- The Hoyas' sole setback of conference play came at Providence, falling 1-0 to the Friars. GU's non-conference losses came to No. 1 West Virginia (1-0) in the season opener and at No. 5 Stanford (4-0) in early September.
- Amanda Carolan leads the Hoyas with nine goals, eight of which have been scored in BIG EAST play.
- Carolan also has a pair of assists to match preseason BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year Rachel Corboz at 20 points to lead the BIG EAST.
- Corboz's 20 points have come on five goals and a league-high 10 assists which doubling the next closest BIG EAST competitors' number for the season and rank second in NCAA DI.
- Arielle Schechtman, the preseason BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, has played all 17 games in-fram for the Hoyas, collecting 29 saves with just seven goals against for an overall record of 11-3-3 with 13 shutouts.
- Schechtman's 13 shutouts leads NCAA Division I.
- Georgetown finished 20-3-3 overall and 6-1-2 in BIG EAST regular season play.
- The Hoyas defeated Marquette in the BIG EAST Tournament Championship game to earn an automatic bid the NCAA Tournament.
- In the tournament, Georgetown defeated St. Francis (Pa.), Rutgers, Virginia and Santa Clara to advance to the NCAA College Cup. The Hoyas fell to eventual national champion Southern Cal, 1-0, in the National Semifinal.
- Last season at NKU Soccer Stadium, the No. 6 rated Hoyas tallied once in each half to secure the 2-0 win over the Musketeers.
- Xavier is 0-4-0 all time against Georgetown.

- Xavier's program-best BIG EAST point total remains at 14, currently standing in fourth in the conference behind Georgetown (17), Butler (16) and Providence (16). With one game remaining for each team in the league, Xavier could finish as high as first and as low as sixth in the standings.

- Toni Bizzarro ranks third in the BIG EAST in save percentage at .842 and tied for fourth in the conference in shutouts (4).
- Bizzarro's total saves (96) rank second in the BIG EAST. Her saves per game (5.65) also ranks second in the conference.

- Xavier fell 1-0 in double-overtime at St. John's on Sunday afternoon.
- SJU's golden goal came when Carly Alfano, under pressure from a pair of SJU offensive threats on a breakaway, attempted to clear a ball to end the threat.. The ball went past the Xavier goalkeeper Toni Bizzarro to give SJU the win on an own goal in the 107th minute.
- Both teams took 12 shots, with Tori Doss and Sydney Schembri leading the Musketeers with three each.
- Abby O'Keefe and Emma Westwater each had had a pair of looks on-frame.

WEEKLY HONOR ROLL |
- After tallying the game winner on Thursday evening against Seton Hall, Tori Doss was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, announced Monday by the league office. Doss' game-winner secured the 2-1 win over the Pirates for the program-best fourth BIG EAST win, earning the first BIG EAST Championship bid in program history and the first postseason appearance since 2003.
- Against the Pirates, Xavier took a 1-0 lead off a Sydney Schembri goal in the first half, and held it into the 67th minute when SHU scored the equalizer. In the 77th minute, Doss struck for her second game-winner of conference play, and third tally in BIG EAST action. Doss scored off a throw in, after Abby O'Keefe, on the right side of the box, popped the ball over the defender to Doss. Doss caught the SHU goalkeeper off the line and buried the ball in the back of the net to take the 2-1 lead.
- This is the first Weekly Honor Roll appearance for Doss, who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 2. Five other Musketeers have earned Weekly Honor Roll this season. Samantha Dewey picked up the honor in weeks one and two of the season. Andie Kennard (Sept. 4), Emma Westwater (Sept. 11), Sydney Schembri (Sept. 25) and Maddie Tierney (Oct. 9) have each earned the honor this season as well. Toni Bizzarro was also honored with a major weekly award for the week of October 2, earning Goalkeeper of the Week.
