Men's Soccer Falls 2-1 at Villanova Despite Vasquenza's Second Half Strike

Senior forward scored for third straight match, but XU falls to 2-2-2 on the road in 2017
CINCINNATI – Matt Vasquenza scored for the third straight match, moving into a tie for 10th in program history with his 23rd career goal, but the Xavier men's soccer team fell 2-1 on the road Saturday at Villanova's Higgins Soccer Complex.
With the loss, the Musketeers dropped to 7-3-2 and 2-2 in league action. XU is now 2-2-2 on the road in 2017.
Xavier was outshot 20-12 in the match, but held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.
• Vasquenza's goal was his sixth of the season and moved him into a tie for 10th in program history with 23 career goals.
• Vasquenza now leads the team with 15 points on the season (6g, 3a).
• Simen Hestnes earned the assist off a corner kick, giving him a team-leading six assists on the year. His 14 points (4g, 6a) rank second on the Musketeers.
• Villanova's win was the first for the Wildcats in the all-time series. Xavier still leads the matchup 3-1-1.
• The Musketeers are now 23-13-4 in league play since joining the BIG EAST for the 2013 season.
