CINCINNATI – Xavier women's tennis starts off the BIG EAST portion of the spring season as they face the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday March 18 at 6 p.m. in Cincinnati.
The Musketeers at 5-7 so far this season after coming off 5-2 victory over the Troy Trojans in Florida on March 9. Xavier topped Troy on the No. 1 through No. 4 singles spot as well as sweeping in doubles.
The Golden Eagles are 8-4 this season after winning four straight against NIU, Drake, UC Riverside and Cal State Northridge.
Head coach Doug Matthews is excited to start BIG EAST play and feels confident that the non-conference schedule helped prepare the Musketeers to return to conference play. He said, "We've played the toughest non-conference schedule that this program has seen before. Our goal is still the same, we want to repeat as BIG EAST champions and we feel our schedule has put us in a position to do that."
The Musketeer Golden Eagle face off is set to start at 6 p.m. ET at Eastern Hills Tennis Club in Cincinnati. For more information regarding Xavier Women's Tennis, visit www.goxavier.com or follow @XavierWTEN on Twitter.
