Sophia Abelson Helps Musketeers to Victory Over Marquette

CINCINNATI – Xavier women's tennis starts of the spring BIG EAST season with a victory over Marquette, Saturday, 5-2. Sophia Abelson went 2-0 on the day and helped lead the Musketeers to victory. The Musketeers claimed four singles victories as well as two double victories. With this victory, Xavier improves to 6-7 in the spring.

Senior Sydney Liggins earned a victory in No. 1 singles. She won 6-4, 3-6, 6-0 Liggins also earned a 7-6 victory at No. 2 doubles with partner Rachael Reichenbach.

Cristina Di Lorenzo won at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 victory. Lauren Ghidotti also found success at No. 3 singles with a 7-6, 6-1 victory. Di Lorenzo and doubles partner Ghidotti fell at No. 1 singles 6-2.

Sophia Abelson played a big role in helping the Musketeers to a victory. Abelson clinched a 6-4, 6-0 victory in No. 5 singles. In addition, Abelson and partner Zoe Manion defeated the Golden Eagles with a 6-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Musketeers head to South Orange, NJ on Saturday March 25 as they take on Providence. They then stay in South Orange and face Seton Hall on Sunday March 26.
