Xavier Baseball Completes Sweep of Georgetown with 6-2 Win on Senior Day at Hayden Field

XU finishes regular season on four-game winning streak, will be three-seed at next week's BIG EAST Tournament
The Musketeers moved to 29-25 on the year with a fourth straight win and finished the season 10-6 in league play, as well as 18-3 at home.
Georgetown dropped to 27-28 (4-14 BIG EAST) with the loss.
XU recognized its eight-member senior class prior to first pitch with a ceremony for Trent Astle, Matt Fallon, Joe Gellenbeck, Jason Hall, Greg Jacknewitz, Brad Kirschner, Ethan Schmidt and Sully Stadler.
Three seniors – Jacknewitz, Kirschner and Astle – combined to hold the Hoyas to two runs and walk off the mound winners in their final appearance at Hayden Field.

• Will LaRue left the yard in the game, giving XU home runs in nine of its last 10 games.
• Chris Givin (1-for-2, R, RBI) extended his hitting streak to a team-best 12 straight games.
• Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-4, 2 RBI) had a two-run single in the fourth to open up the XU lead.
• Will LaRue (2-for-4, R, RBI) smacked his third homer of the year, a solo shot to left in the second inning.
• Matt Fallon (1-for-3, 2 R) walked and scored twice in his final game at Hayden Field.
• Conor Grammes saw a 10-game hitting streak snapped, but the freshman still walked and scored a run.

• Three senior lefties combined to hold Georgetown to two runs on Senior Day at Hayden Field.
• Senior lefty Greg Jacknewitz (4-4) got the win in his final start at Hayden Field, lasting five innings and allowing two runs while scattering five hits.
• Senior lefty Brad Kirschner came on in relief, firing two scoreless frames with just one hit allowed and a pair of strikeouts.
• Senior lefty Trent Astle pitched a pair of scoreless innings after Kirschner, closing out the victory in his final appearance at Hayden Field.
• Xavier starting pitching continued a standout weekend, compiling a 1.06 ERA in three games as Garrett Schilling, Zac Lowther and Jacknewitz combined for 17 innings with just two runs and seven hits allowed.
• XU's pitching staff has now allowed two runs or less in BIG EAST play in nine of 16 games. The rotation has a 2.50 ERA in BIG EAST action, compiling a line of 79.1 IP, 60 H, 22 ER, 82 K.

SECOND INNING: Will LaRue connected with a 2-2 pitch, launching a solo shot to left field to give XU a 1-0 lead.
THIRD INNING: Matt Fallon dropped a perfect bunt down the right side, reaching for a single to begin the inning. With one out, Fallon swiped second and third as Chris Givin walked to put runners on the corners. Conor Grammes followed with a walk to load the bases for Rylan Bannon, who lifted a fly ball to center to score Fallon. Joe Gellenbeck then singled back up the middle to score two more and make it 4-1.
FOURTH INNING: Nate Soria worked a one out walk, advancing to third on two wild pitches. After Matt Fallon walked, Soria would come around to score on a balk by the Georgetown pitcher. Chris Givin came up next and looped a double into right field to score two more, making it 6-2.
