Men's Soccer Falls to No. 12 Creighton on Senior Night at XU Soccer Complex

CINCINNATI – Simen Hestnes recorded a senior night equalizer in the 50th minute, but Xavier men's soccer allowed two unanswered goals and fell 3-1 to visiting No. 12 Creighton on Friday night at XU Soccer Complex.
The loss snapped a 14-match unbeaten streak at home as XU slipped to 3-1-3 at XU Soccer Complex this year.
The Musketeers celebrated their senior class ahead of the match, recognizing seven graduating seniors: Robert DeWitt III, Jacob Goodall, Colin Hanley, Simen Hestnes, Tomek Pauer, Samson Sergi and Joash Sutherland.
Xavier dropped to 4-4-5, 2-2-1 BIG EAST with five matches to play, falling to Creighton at XU Soccer Complex for the first time.
Creighton improved to 9-2-1 and 5-0 in the BIG EAST with the win.

3' | Creighton 1-0 | Sven Koenig received a ball in the box from the left flank, turned and scored from point-blank range for his seventh goal of the season.
50' | Tied 1-1 | Simen Hestnes and Samson Sergi teamed up for a linking play on the left flank, as Sergi tapped a pass forward to Hestnes who finished a line drive to the far post. It was Hestnes' team-leading sixth goal of the year.
58' | Creighton 2-1 | Akeem Ward got loose on the left side of the box and launced a low liner that was deflected to the upper right side of the net.
84' | Creighton 3-1 | Tor Trosten found himself on the end of a cross from Yudai Tashiro to solidify the win for CU.

• Xavier was outshot 16-13, but edged Creighton 7-6 in shots on goal. Creighton's Paul Kruse made six saves in net, including several highlight-reel stops to keep the Musketeers off the board.
• Xavier also held an 8-5 edge in corner kicks.
• Simen Hestnes scored his team-leading sixth goal of the season in the 50th minute, giving him 17 points for the season (6g, 5a).
• Samson Sergi registered his second assist of the season on the sequence.
• Tomek Pauer led Xavier with three shots, including two on goal.
