CINCINNATI - The Xavier men's tennis team will wrap up their Fall tournament season Oct. 19-21 at the Louisville Invitational, hosted by the University of Louisville. Invitational play will take place at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center and is home to six indoor courts and eight outdoor courts. The three-day event features A, B, C and D flights of singles and doubles competition and will include 11 of the 14 teams that competed in 2017.
Â
Xavier will join Austin Peay, Ball State, Bellarmine, Belmont, Campbellsville, Chattanooga, Illinois State, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee and Tennessee Tech in the three-day tournament and will look for momentum as they look toward the upcoming Spring season.
Last weekend, Jack Dykema, Brett Winters, Connor LaFavre and Matthew Graft competed in the annual ITA Ohio Valley Regionals. Dykema and Winters both picked up two singles wins and paired up in doubles for one more victory. Winters began the event as the No. 32 seed in a singles competition that included 128 athletes from around the region.
Â
LaFavre and Graft both fell in the opening round of singles play and will look to improve this weekend in preparation for the upcoming Spring.
Â
This weekend will conclude the Fall season for the Musketeers, who have competed in the Greater Cincinnati Invitational, Dayton Hidden Duals, and ITA Ohio Valley Regionals so far. Xavier's men ended last season with a 5-16 team record and will begin their Spring season in mid-January 2019.
