Musketeers Conclude Homestand Against Fairfield on Saturday

CINCINNATI - Xavier women's basketball concludes its four-game homestand on Saturday, Nov. 17 against Fairfield at 2 p.m. The Musketeers enter the game with a 2-1 record, while the Stags are 2-0.
The contest is the first game of the 4th Annual Lauren Hill Tipoff Classic. Mount St. Joseph and UC Clermont play in the second game of the doubleheader at 5 p.m.

NOTABLES
• Fairfield posted a 13-17 (10-8 MAAC) record last season and finished fourth in the conference standings.
• Fairfield graduated its lone all-conference member in Samantha Cooper who led the team in scoring (15.0) and rebounding (10.0). The Stags finished the year ranked second in the conference in scoring defense (59.6) and three pointers made per game (6.3).
• The Stags return their second leading scoring in Sam Kramer who averaged 9.9 points per game. The guard ended the year ranked eighth in the MAAC in three pointers made (54) and 10th in three-point field-goal percentage (.344).
• Fairfield is averaging 64.5 points per game, while limiting its opponents to only 41.5 points per game. Katie Armstrong leads three players in double figures this season, averaging 15.0 points per game with a .524 field-goal percentage.
• Sophomore A'riana Gray was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday afternoon for her on-court performance last week. The forward helped the Musketeers open the season with a 2-0 record.
• Gray averaged a team-best 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game with a .737 field-goal percentage (14-for-19). She was also 2-for-4 from three point range and 5-for-6 from the foul line. Gray added two assists and two steals.
• The Cleveland, Ohio, native had 11 point and five rebounds against Chicago State. She also scored a career-high 24 points with 10 rebounds against Tennessee Tech, her second career double-double.
• Xavier dropped a 78-53 contest to No. 25 Minnesota on Wednesday night at Cintas Center.
• Sophomore A'riana Gray nearly missed her third career double-double and second in as many games, finishing with nine points and a team-high 10 rebounds. She added two steals on the night.
• Xavier forced 18 turnovers, turning the miscues into 21 points - seven more than the Golden Eagles scored off of turnovers. The Musketeers also had one more steal (8-7) than Minnesota.
• Redshirt-junior Tierra Floyd scored a team-high 10 points on 4-for-8 shooting with four rebounds and two steals in 17 minutes of action off the bench.
• Through three games, Xavier has had two players post 20-point performances in A'riana Gray (24 vs Tennessee Tech) and Deja Ross (22 vs Chicago State). The Musketeers only had two 20-point performances last season.
• Sophomore A'riana Gray leads the team in scoring (14.7) and rebounding (8.3). The forward has connected on 58.1 percent (18-for-31) of her shot attempts. She ranks eighth in the BIG EAST in scoring and fifth in rebounding.
• Freshman Ayanna Townsend has averaged 7.7 points and 6.0 rebounds per game this season with a .769 (10-for-13) field goal percentage. She also leads the team in blocks with seven. She leads the BIG EAST in field-goal percentage and total blocks.
• Sophomore Aaliyah Dunham has averaged 10.3 points and 4.3 assists per game this season. She also had a team-high seven steals. The guard ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in assists.
• Sophomore Deja Ross is averaging 9.7 points per game this season with a .478 field-goal percentage (11-for-23). The forward averaged 4.5 points per game a year ago.
• Xavier defeated Chicago State, 91-57, on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The Musketeers moved to 19-0 in season openers at Cintas Center following the win. The 91 points were the most points in a game for Xavier since scoring 91 against Marquette on Feb. 16, 2015. Xavier won 91-72 at Cintas Center.
• The 34 point win over Chicago State was Xavier's largest margin of victory since an 86-53 win over Delaware State on Dec. 1, 2016.
• The Musketeers forced 26 turnovers against Chicago State. The 26 forced turnovers are the most in a game since Wofford committed 27 against the Musketeers on Nov. 15, 2014 at Cintas Center.
• Xavier ranks third in the BIG EAST in scoring offense (80.5), while ranking second in blocks (6.5) and fifth in field-goal percentage (.468).
• Xavier returns point guard Na'Teshia Owens who played and started in 27 games last season. She averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game, while adding 59 assists and 24 steals. The junior also hit 40 percent (30-for-75) of her three pointers to rank eighth in the BIG EAST.
• The Musketeers also return Aaliyah Dunham who was named to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. The guard led the team in assists (74) and three pointers made (32). She finished the year ranked fourth in Xavier single-season history in assists by a freshman.
• Aaliyah Dunham also connected on 39 percent of her three pointers (32-for-82), the ninth best percentage in the conference.
• Xavier finished the year ranked second all-time in program history in made three pointers with 214. The 700 attempted three pointers rank first in school history.
• Xavier returns its top rebounder from last season in A'riana Gray. The sophomore forward pulled down 5.5 rebounds per game last year, leading all BIG EAST freshmen in the category. She also led the Musketeers in steals (30).
• Xavier is the only team in the BIG EAST without a graduate student or senior on its roster. The Musketeers only have three upperclassmen (juniors), and have 10 underclassmen – ranked with Georgetown and Providence for the most underclassmen in the BIG EAST.
• Xavier will play 18 games at Cintas Center this season, including nine BIG EAST games.
• The Musketeers open and close BIG EAST play against Georgetown. Xavier travels to Washington, D.C., on Dec. 29 to open conference play and host the Hoyas on March 3 at Cintas Center.
