Swimming Travels to IUPUI to Close Out Fall Schedule

CINCINNATI – Xavier men's and women's swimming close out the fall semester by traveling to Indianapolis to face IUPUI on Friday evening. Events with the Jags are set to get underway at 6:00 p.m. at the IUPUI Natatorium.

THE OPPONENT - IUPUI |
- IUPUI's women stand at 5-1 in dual meets, winning the last four dual meets with wins over Butler, Western Illinois, Olivet Nazarene and Milwaukee.
- IUPUI's men are 3-2 in dual meets, having won three-straight over Western Illinois, Olivet Nazarene and Milwaukee.
- Last season at IUPUI, Xavier faced off with the host Jags, as well as UIndy and Ball State.
- Xavier's women swept the four-team meet, picking up the wins over UIndy, IUPUI and Ball State, winning seven of 14 racing events.
- Xavier's men topped Ball State, 184-110, and fell to UIndy and IUPUI.
- IUPUI's men finished fourth of the Horizon League Championships, while the women's team finished fifth.

WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier's women were last in action at the Cleveland State Magnus Cup, held Nov. 16-18, where Xavier finished third.
- To open the first day, Xavier's A team of Emily Conners, Abigail Garner, Tianna Vozar and Laura Dicus took third in the 200 free relay with a season-best time of 1:32.67. Xavier's B team of Maureen Cummins, Emily Saugstad, Lydia Schaeffer and Caroline Gaertner also competed in the A-Final, taking seventh.
- Lydia Schaeffer led Xavier in the 50 breast with a time of 29.16, to take second. The time is a new school record in the non-traditional event.
- Katie Kerr led Xavier in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.97, placing 15th with the top time by a Musketeer this season. Emma Kauffeld, Tilly Baldwin and Abigail Garner also competed the B-Final, finishing 16th, 17th and 18th respectively.
- Alison Herman led Xavier in the 200 IM with a time of 2:04.82, a new school record. Taylor Hogan also competed in the B-Final, placing 16th.
- Emily Conners won the 50 free with a time of 22.95, the best time by a Musketeer this season. Tianna Vozar placed fifth in the A-Final with a time of 23.33, a season best time.
- To close day one, Lydia Schaeffer, Taylor Hogan and Emily Conners led Xavier in the 400 medley relay, finishing third with a time of 3:45.09, a season-best time. Ali Fort, Becca Titterton, Annie Cummins and Tianna Vozar placed seventh.
- To open day two, Xavier's women opened the second day with a third place finish for Ali Fort, Lydia Schaeffer, Caroline Gaertner and Emily Conners in the 200 medley relay, with a season-best time of 1:42.60.
- Taylor Hogan led Xavier in the finals of the 400 IM with a sixth place finish after setting a season-best time for the Musketeers of 4:26.72 in the prelims. Emma Kauffeld's touched just behind her in the A-Final in seventh place.
- Hogan set the best time this season by a Musketeer in the 100 fly, 55.50, in the prelims to earn a spot in the A-Final where she placed 10th. Caroline Gaertner set a time of 55.62, her personal best time this season, in the B-Final to take the second spot in that heat.
- Emily Conners took fifth in the 200 free after setting a time of 1:50.67, the best by a Musketeer this season, in the prelims. Ali Fort also competed in the A-Final, finishing 10th.
- Lydia Schaeffer led Xavier in the 100 breast with a sixth-place finish in a season-best time for the Musketeers of 1:04.46.
- Ali Fort's prelim time of 55.33 in the 100 back was the top time by a Musketeer this season. Caroline Gaertner led Xavier in the A-Final with a second-place finish in a time of 55.57, her best time so far this season.
- To close day two, Katie Kerr, Emily Saugstad, Abigail Garner and Emily Conners set a season-best time of 7:28.30 in the 800 free to take third.
- On the final day, Tilly Baldwin placed fifth in the mile with a time of 17:10.10, a season-best for the Musketeers.
- Lorelei Gaertner set a season-best time for the Musketeers of 25.83 in the prelims of the 50 fly before finishing ninth in the A-Final of the event. Annie Cummins finished 13th competing in the B-Final.
- Taylor Hogan set the best time by a Musketeer this season, 2:02.21, in the prelims of the 200 back before leading a trio of Musketeers in the A-Final with a sixth-place finish. Ali Fort placed seventh and Caroline Gaertner finished ninth.
- Emily Conners' time of 49.97, the best by a Musketeer this season, led Xavier with a second place finish in the 100 free. Tianna Vozar finished seventh with a time of 51.25, her best time so far season.
- Lydia Schaeffer set a time of 2:22.39, the best for Xavier so far this season, in the prelims of the 200 breast, then finished 15thin the B-Final.
- Ali Fort took the top spot in 50 back with a time of 25.67, the best time for the Musketeers this season. Caroline Gaertnerfinished fifth in the A-Final and Anne Locker finished 12th, competing in the B-Final.
- Taylor Hogan set the top time in the prelims of the 200 fly, 2:00.88, improving her own school record. Hogan took second in the A-Final.
- Tianna Vozar, Emily Saugstad, Abigail Garner and Emily Conners closed out the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 free relay with a season-best time of 3:24.15.
- Xavier remained in third place to close out the meet, standing behind Akron and Buffalo.

MEN'S LAST TIME OUT |
- Xavier's men were last in action at the Cleveland State Magnus Cup, held Nov. 16-18, where Xavier finished third.
- To open the meet, Xavier's men put three teams in the top 10 of the 200 free relay, with the A team of Alex Sironen, Brandon Abboud, Ben Quonand Enrique Hernandez taking third with a season-best time of 1:23.01.Noah Coomler, Matthew Geraghty, Sam Johanns and David Bunnell placed sixth, while Landon Clark, Elliot Steinberg, Jared Ritz and Roark Lundal finished 10th.
- Matthew Dyer led Xavier in the 50 breast, taking third with a time of 26.00. Roark Lundal also competed in the A-Final, finishing ninth with a time of 26.84.
- Ben Quon led Xavier in the 500 free, finishing 15th after setting a time of 4:38.85 in the prelims, the best time by a Musketeer this season. Nick Mahoney and Jared Ritz both competed in the B-Final of the 500 free, finishing 16th and 17th.
- Matthew Dyer finished eighth in the A-Final of the 200 IM after setting a time of 1:53.90 in the prelims. Brandon Abboudplaced 10th in the A-Final. Chase Baldwin took the top spot in the B-Final with a time of 1:53.07, the best time by a Musketeer this season.
- Alex Sironen set a season-best time of 21.12 in the 50 free prelims, then led Xavier in the A-Final with a fifth-place finish. Enrique Hernandez and Brandon Abboud finished seventh and 10th respectively. Sam Johanns took the top spot in the B-final with a time of 21.14.
- To close out the first day,, Alex Sironen, Matthew Dyer, Brandon Abboud and Ben Quon's season-best time of 3:22.08 led Xavier in the 400 medley relay with a fifth place finish. Sam Johanns, Roark Lundal, David Bunnell and Enrique Hernandez finished eighth.
- To open day two, Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer, David Bunnell and Alex Sironen led Xavier in the opening 200 medley relay with a season-best time of 1:30.86 to finish fourth. The B team of Chase Baldwin, Roark Lundal, Brandon Abboud, and Ben Quon finished 10th with a time of 1:33.46.
- Chase Baldwin led Xavier in the 400 IM, claiming ninth after setting a time of 4:07.49, the best by a Musketeer this season, in the prelims.
- David Bunnell's time of 49.68 in the finals of the 100 fly was the fastest by a Musketeer this season, finishing the A-Final in sixth place. Landon Clark led Xavier in the B-Final with a time of 50.26. Brandon Abboud, Nathan Runyon, Alex Sironen and Roark Lundal also competed in the B-Final.
- Ben Quon led Xavier in the A-Final of the 200 free with a time of 1:41.38, the fastest by a Musketeer this season, to take seventh. Jared Ritz also competed in the A-Final, placing ninth with a time of 1:42.25 after setting a season-best time of 1:42.09 in the prelims.
- Matthew Dyer's time of 56.39 in the 100 breast tied for fifth and was the fastest by a Musketeer so far this season. Roark Lundal and Cameron Weese competed in the B-Final, finishing 13th and 14th respectively.
- Sam Johanns led Xavier in the 100 back with a third place finish in a time of 49.85, the fastest time by a Musketeer so far this season. Nathan Runyon placed seventh with a season-best time of 50.86. David Bunnell and Nick Mahoney finished 12th and 14th respectively.
- Xavier closed out the day by taking two of the top five spots in the 800 free relay, with Matthew Geraghty, Sam Johanns, Matthew Dyer and Patrick Hackett setting a season-best time of 6:53.25 to take fourth and Jared Ritz, Brandon Abboud, Enrique Hernandez and Ben Quon finishing fifth.
- On the final day, Nick Mahoney's time of 16:04.98 in the mile placed eighth in the timed final and was the fastest by a Musketeer this season.
- Landon Clark set a new school-record time of 51.28 in the prelims of the 100 IM, then finished second in the A-Final to lead Xavier.
- David Bunnell's time of 22.68 in the 50 fly finished fourth in the A-Final. Roark Lundal also competed in the A-Final, finishing eighth.
- Alex Sironen used a season-best time for the Musketeers, 1:50.38, to finish third in the A-Final of the 200 back. Chase Baldwinmatched that season-best time to take the top spot in the B-Final.
- Nathan Runyon and Nick Mahoney also competed in the A-Final of the 200 back, finishing seventh and 10th respectively.
- Sam Johanns led Xavier with a time of 45.85 in the A-Final of the 100 free, finishing fifth with the best time by a Musketeer so far this season. David Bunnell finished eighth in the A-Final. Enrique Hernandez set the top time in the B-Final.
- Matthew Dyer's time of 2:04.25 in the prelims of the 200 breast was the top time this season by a Musketeer this season. Dyer finished fourth in the A-Final. Cameron Weese also competed in the A-Final, finishing 10th.
- Sam Johanns took the top spot in the A-Final of the 50 back, leading four Musketeers in the top five and setting a new meet record of 23.00 in the process.
- Alex Sironen, Nathan Runyon, and Chase Baldwin also finished top-five in the 50 back, finishing second, fourth and fifth, respectively.
- Landon Clark set a season-best time for Xavier, 1:53.87, in the prelims of the 200 fly. Brandon Abboud led Xavier in the A-Final, taking seventh. Clark finished eighth in the A-Final and Bradley Jackson took 10th place.
- Xavier closed out the meet with two top-10 finishes in the 400 free relay. Sam Johanns, Enrique Hernandez, David Bunnell and Alex Sironen took third with a season-best time of 3:02.89. Ben Quon, Matthew Geraghty, Jared Ritz and Brandon Abboud finished eighth.
- Xavier remained in third place, behind host CSU and Simon Fraser.

UP NEXT |
- Xavier will break for the end of the semester, returning to competitive action in January. The Musketeers open up the spring at Cincinnati on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Keating Aquatic Center.
