Xavier Wins First Match of 2018 Spring Season

CINCINNATI- Xavier men's tennis won their first match of the 2018 spring season, 6-1, over Northern Illinois.

The Musketeers were exceptional in doubles and singles play. Xavier won two doubles matches and five singles matches.

In No. 1 doubles play, Jack Dykema and Gabriel Araujo won, 6-3. Brett Winters and Alejandro Rodriguez-Vidal won at No. 3 doubles over Erich Schuette and Kristopher Ortega of Northern Illinois.

Dykema won over Ortega at No. 1 singles, 7-6(4), 4-6, 11-9. At No. 2 singles, Winters defeated Georg Lundkvist, 7-5, 6-3. Gabriel Araujo won his No. 4 match and freshman, Rodriguez-Vidal, won at No. 5 singles. Matthew Graft also was victorious at No. 6 singles.

The Musketeers will travel to Dayton, Ohio tomorrow to face Wright State.
