Givin Collects Career-High Five RBI as Xavier Baseball Wins at San Francisco, 14-6

SAN FRANCISCO - Chris Givin had four hits and drove in a career-high five runs on Thursday night as Xavier baseball used a seven run sixth inning to pull away from San Francisco, 14-6, in the first of a four-game series at Benedetti Diamond.
The Musketeeers (4-9) snapped a five game losing streak with the win and will have three more games this weekend against the Dons.
• Xavier continues its series at San Francisco on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 5 p.m. ET.
• Xavier collected a season-high 14 runs and 12 walks, collecting 13 hits in the win.
• Junior Chris Givin had an outstanding day at the plate, going 4-for-6 with two runs scored, a homer and five RBI. The four hits tied a career-high for the third time, while the five RBI were a new career mark.
• Freshman Allbry Major went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a double.
• Junior Matt Warkentin went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, two RBI and a double.
• Ryan Altenberger (1-for-5, 2 R, 3 RBI), Conor Grammes (1-for-5, R, RBI), Joe Gellenbeck (1-for-5, R, RBI), Nate Soria (1-for-4, R) and Andrew Sexton (1-for-2, R, RBI) also contributed hits.
• Freshman lefty Trevor Olson got the start and went a career-high seven innings, allowing five earned runs and striking out three to pick up his first career win.
• Senior Christian Glass finished out the game with two innings of one-run ball, allowing three walks but no hits.
THIRD INNING: Matt Warkentin doubled to right center with one out, moving to third on a single by Andrew Sexton. Batting next, Ryan Altenberger singled to right field to score Warkentin and give XU a 1-0 lead.
FOURTH INNING: Allbry Major led off the frame with a walk, moving to second on a one out walk by Nate Soria. Coming up next, Matt Warkentin singled to left field to score Major. Andrew Sexton worked a walk to load the bases before Ryan Altenberger reached on a fielder's choice to score Soria. Chris Givin thren singled to center to score Warkentin and force a pitching change by the Dons. Conor Grammes batted next, reaching on an error that allowed Altenberger to come around to score. Joe Gellenbeck followed with single to right field to bring Givin home to cap a five run inning.
SIXTH INNING: Chris Givin led off the inning with a solo homer to left field. With one out, the Musketeers worked three straight walks before a fly out put the rally in danger. Matt Warkentin batted next and worked a walk to push Gellenbeck across. Andrew Sexton and Ryan Altenberger then worked back-to-back walks to push two more across before Givin came up with a three-run double to left center.
NINTH INNING: Conor Grammes doubled to right field to start off the inning, coming aroudn to score on a one out double by Allbry Major.
