OXFORD, Ohio - Xavier baseball dropped a back-and-forth affair against Wright State, 9-7, on Wednesday at McKie Field to wrap up the Joe Nuxhall Classic.

Xavier fell to 11-21 overall with the loss and has now dropped three in a row.

The Raiders improved to 19-12 with the win.

UP NEXT

• Xavier travels to South Orange, N.J. this weekend for a three-game set at Seton Hall. The series kicks off Friday night at 6 p.m.

XU AT THE PLATE

• Xavier collected 14 hits and plated seven runs.
• Sophomore Andrew Sexton went 2-for-3 with a career-best three runs scored, a walk, a steal and an RBI in a very productive game at the leadoff spot.
• Chris Givin tied a career-high with four hits, going 4-for-5 for the day while scoring once, doubling and knocking in a run.
• Givin now has a team-best six game hitting streak and has reached base in nine straight.
• Joe Gellenbeck was 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.
• Ryan Fournier got the start at third base and responded with a 2-for-3 game, scoring a run and connecting for his first career triple.
• Matt Warkentin (1-for-4, 2 RBI), Nate Soria (1-for-4, HR, RBI), Natale Monastra (1-for-4, R, RBI, 3B) and Sam Flamini (1-for-4) also had hits for XU.

XU ON THE MOUND

• Sophomore Sam Czabala got the start on the hill and went five solid innings, allowing just two earned runs on four hits.
• Senior Christian Glass allowed two earned runs in the sixth before giving way to Griffin Lanoue, who pitched two innings and allowed four runs (none earned).
• Sean Douaire finished out the game, tossing an inning and striking out one while allowing one earned run.

HOW XU SCORED

FIRST INNING | Andrew Sexton walked to lead off the game, scoring on a double to left center by Chris Givin. Batting next, Joe Gellenbeck singled to second base to make it first and third with no outs. Matt Warkentin followed with a sacrifice fly to right, making it 2-0.
SECOND INNING | Natale Monastra led off with a triple to left center, scoring on a sacrifice fly by Blaine Griffiths.
THIRD INNING | Andrew Sexton singled to center to start the game, going to second on a Chris Givin base hit to left. Matt Warkentin then came up with two outs and singled to center field to score Sexton and make it 4-2.
SEVENTH INNING | Ryan Fournier connected for a triple to right center with one out, coming around to score on a base hit up the middle by Andrew Sexton. With two outs, Sexton stole second and crossed the playe on a double to left field by Joe Gellenbeck.
EIGHTH INNING | Nate Soria started off the inning with a solo homer to left center, getting XU within one at 8-7.
