Women's Tennis Moves to 4-0 in BIG EAST Play with Win Over Creighton

Lauren Fitz-Randolph picked up the deciding point; Musketeers will face Marquette tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET
MILWAUKEE – Xavier women's tennis picked up its fourth BIG EAST win in as many tries on Saturday, picking up a 5-2 win over the Creighton Bluejays in Milwaukee. Xavier, which has won four out of its last five, moves to 11-6 overall and 4-0 in BIG EAST play.
Xavier went ahead 1-0 after taking the doubles point, winning at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, while the No. 1 spot did not finish.
The Musketeers went ahead 2-0 after picking up the first singles win, a two-set win for Rachael Reichenbach, 6-2, 6-2.
Creighton cut the Xavier lead back to one, 2-1, after Ahmeir Kyle fell, 7-5, 6-3, at the No. 1 spot.
Elizabeth Bagerbaseh re-extended the Musketeer lead to 3-1 after picking up Xavier's second singles win at the No. 4 spot, 7-6, 6-3.
Creighton pulled back to within one, 3-2, with a win in the No. 2 spot in three sets. Lauren Ghidotti took the first set, 6-4, but fell in the final two sets, 6-4, 6-2.
The final two singles matches, in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, went to three sets looking for the deciding points.
In the No. 6 spot, Lauren Fitz-Randolph fell in the first set, 6-3, before coming back to take the second 7-6 (4). In the third set, she fell behind 2-3 before coming back for three straight points to take a 5-3 lead, eventually clinching the win for the Musketeers wiht a 6-3 win.
In the No. 5 spot Kaitlin Ruether fell, 7-5, in the first set but came back to win the second f-4. In the third set, she went ahead 2-0 before CU came back to tie it up, 2-2, before going ahead 4-3. The match was called at 4-4.
The Musketeers remain in Milwaukee to face Marquette tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. ET.
