CINCINNATI – Xavier volleyball opens BIG EAST play on Sept. 21-22 at St. John's and Seton Hall. The Musketeers (2-9, 0-0) take on the Red Storm (11-5, 0-1) on Friday and the Pirates (5-9, 0-1) on Saturday.

• The Red Storm lost their conference opener at Georgetown on Wednesday night in five sets (21-25, 25-17, 17-25, 25-20, 14-16). Freshman Efrosini Alexakou led the team in kills (15), while adding 11 digs. Sophomore Kayley Wood added 10 kills and junior Erica Di Maulo paced the team in assists with 36.
• St. John's leads the conference in total aces (105), while ranking third in opponent hitting percentage (.195) and fifth in hitting percentage.

• The Pirates are coming off a four-set loss (25-23, 21-25, 20-25, 23-25) at Villanova on Wednesday night in the team's BIG EAST opener. Abby Thelen led the Pirates with 20 kills, while Caitlin Koska added 13 kills and 13 digs. Koska was one of four players with 10 or more digs.

• Senior Meredith Klare has 1,621 career digs to rank third all-time in program history. The libero is now 107 digs away from moving into second place with Beth Osterday (1996-99). Stephanie Vorherr (2009-12) holds the program record with 2,152 digs.
• The Union, Ky., native posted 520 digs a year ago, the fourth most in single-season school history.
• Senior Meredith Klare leads the team in digs (3.78 d/s) this season. The libero led the BIG EAST in digs per set (4.37) last year and finished the year ranked 88th nationally in total digs.
• Freshman Norah Painter ranks second on the team in kills (2.26 k/s), while ranking third in the conference among freshmen in the category. The outside hitter has added a nine blocks.
• Freshman Jayda Carlton leads the Musketeers in blocks with 35. The middle blocker is averaging 0.95 blocks per set, the second most by a BIG EAST freshman this season.
• Audrey Adams ranks seventh in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.306). She also ranks third on the team in kills (1.91 k/s).
• Senior Laura Grossman ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in kills, averaging 3.14 kills per set. She also ranks ninth in total points per set (3.61).
• Xavier ranks fifth in the conference in digs (1.84 d/s).
• Xavier played its first eight matches on the road. The Musketeers traveled to the Puerto Rico Clásico on Aug. 31-Sept. 2 and the Purdue Tournament on Sept. 7-8.
• The Musketeers hosted their own tournament at Cintas Center on Sept. 14-15. Xavier faced Indiana, Eastern Kentucky and crosstown rival Cincinnati during tournament action.
