Pauer Scores in Second Straight as Men's Soccer Moves Unbeaten Streak to Seven

CINCINNATI – Xavier men's soccer battled back from an early deficit, pushing its unbeaten streak to seven in a double overtime draw against St. John's, 1-1, on Friday at Xavier Soccer Complex.
The Musketeers fell behind in the 11th minute, but got an equalizer from Tomek Pauer in the 44th minute to reset the match going into halftime. XU was outshot in the second half, but Zachary Nelson stepped up in goal with a career-high 10 saves to keep things level.
Overall, the draw moved XU to 3-0-4 (1-0-1 BIG EAST) on the season and continued the strongest start by a Xavier team since 2012. XU also pushed its unbeaten streak at home to 12 straight matches, going back to last season's home opener.
St. John's moved to 4-3-1 on the season and 1-0-1 in BIG EAST play.

44' | Tied 1-1 | Tomek Pauer finished with his left foot from a tight angle, finding his way to a rebound off Simen Hestnes' penalty kick attempt and getting his third tally of the season for the equalizer.
• Tomek Pauer scored for the second straight match after recording the game-winner at Georgetown last Saturday. The goal was his third of the season and second in league play. His seven points (3g, 1a) rank second on the team.
• Simen Hestnes assisted on Pauer's equalizer to give him his team-leading 12th point of the season (4g, 4a).

• Head coach Andy Fleming moved to 95-48-28 since taking over at Xavier and remains just five wins from 100 in his career.
• Xavier remains in front in the all-time series, 3-2-2.
