Senior Derrick Otim had two assists vs the Bulldogs
CINCINNATI - Xavier men's soccer closed non-conference action with a 4-0 win over UNC Asheville on Tuesday night. The Musketeers improved to 8-6-1, while the Bulldogs dropped to 3-11-1.
4' | XU | Samson Sergi gave the Musketeers an early 1-0 lead scoring off a pass from Noah Boffo.
22' | XU | Karsen Henderlong scored off a corner kick by Jacob Goodall.
57' | XU | Noah Boffo found the back off the net off a deflected shot by Derrick Otim.
70' | XU | Taylor Crull scored off a corner kick by Derrick Otim. The corner kick shot was punched out by the UNC Asheville goalkeeper before Crull scored off the initial save.
• Senior Samson Sergi now has a team-leading eight goals this season. The forward now has 27 career goals to rank fifth in program history. He ranks second in the BIG EAST in goals.
• Freshman Karsen Henderlong now has seven goals. He leads all BIG EAST freshmen in goals this season.
• Sophomore Taylor Crull and freshman Noah Boffo both scored their second goals of the season. Boffo also added an assist, increasing his season total to three - ranking second on the team.
• Senior Derrick Otim had two assists on Tuesday night. The midfielder has a team-leading four assists to go along with two goals.
• Redshirt-junior Matthew Rosenberg (8-6-1) logged the first 65 minutes of action before being replaced by Eddie Walsh. Walsh made his first appearance this season in goal, making one save in 25 minutes of action.
• Xavier posted 14 more shots (20-6) than the Bulldogs and had six more corner kick (7-1). UNC Asheville committed three more fouls (8-5).
• Xavier returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 against Providence for Senior Day. First touch is set for 5 p.m. from the XU Soccer Complex.
