Women's Soccer Tops Seton Hall 5-0 on Sunday

Dewey tallies twice; Sroka, McLaughlin and Jakovich each add a goal
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's soccer topped Seton Hall, 5-0, on Sunday at the XU Soccer Complex, marking the Musketeers' largest victory over a Division I opponent in over a decade. Xavier moved to 9-2-2 on the season and 2-1 in BIG EAST play with the win.
Brooke Sroka scored from Jackie Richards in the third minute, putting Xavier ahead, 1-0, before the match went into a weather delay due to lightning in the area less than 10 minutes into the match.
Following a 35 minute delay, Xavier picked up where it left off offensively, with Molly McLaughlin scoring on a header off a corner kick in the 22nd minute and Samantha Dewey scoring less than 10 minutes later to set the halftime score at 3-0 in favor of Xavier.
Right out of the break, the Musketeers got on the board again, with Hayley Jakovich scoring two minutes into the second half on a header. Xavier tallied again less than five minutes later, on a second for Samantha Dewey for the 5-0 lead, Xavier's largest margin of victory over a conference rival since joining the BIG EAST in 2013.
Toni Bizzarro made her seventh start of the season, marking the fifth shutout for the Musketeers in a match she started. Hayley Jakovich, Maddie Thiss, Grace Bahr and Grace Brauer all started in Xavier's backfield, helping the Musketeers limit Seton Hall to just two looks on frame.

- Brooke Sroka's goal in the first three minutes was her second of the season, following her second-half goal against Creighton on Thursday. It also went down as the game-winner. Sroka now has six points on two goals and two assists.
- Samantha Dewey had her third multi-goal game of the season, bringing her season total to 11 goals and 25 points. Her 11 goals this season are a new career high while 25 points matches her previous career-high.
- Molly McLaughlin's goal was her first of the season and the third of her Xavier career.
- Hayley Jakovich scored her first goal of 2019, and her first of her Xavier career.
- Carrie Lewis picked two assists, on McLaughlin's goal and Dewey's second. She matches Grace Bahr with a team-high five assists.
- Bahr picked up her fifth assist of the season, on Jakovich's goal, matching Lewis for team-high. Her seven points (1G, 5A) is tied for second most on the team.
- Jackie Richards picked up the assist on Sroka's game-winner to bring her season total to seven points (3G, 1A) to match Bahr for second most on the team.
- Xavier out-shot Seton Hall 23-4, including a 11-2 advantage on shots on frame.
- Xavier's 5-0 win is the largest margin of victory over a Division I team since Sep. 30, 2007, when Xavier beat Saint Joseph's, 5-0.
- Toni Bizzarro collected two saves in-frame to pick up her fifth win of the season and her fourth complete shutout.
- Xavier defense picked up its seventh shutout of the season.
