Men's Basketball Hosts Creighton On Wednesday Night In BIG EAST Action

Xavier and Creighton will play for the second time in 11 days.
CINCINNATI ---- The Xavier University Musketeers, 11-13 overall and 3-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, host the Creighton University Bluejays, 13-11 overall and 4-7 in the BIG EAST Conference, on Wednesday night at Cintas Center. It's the second time in three games that the two teams will face off. Creighton beat Xavier in Omaha on Feb. 3.
Xavier leads the series 15-13. The Musketeers won last year's meeting at Cintas Center.
The nationwide Jesuit Basketball Spotlight (JBS) project uses Jesuit basketball to raise awareness of Jesuit education. Xavier is one of the 28 Jesuit schools, as are fellow BIG EAST Conference members Creighton, Georgetown and Marquette. The nationwide Jesuit Basketball Spotlight project highlights games between the 28 Jesuit colleges and universities in the U.S.

• Xavier, 11-13 overall and 3-8 in the BIG EAST Conference, lost its sixth straight game on Saturday vs. DePaul at Cintas Center.
• Xavier and Creighton are playing for the second time in 11 days. XU played at Creighton on Feb. 3. XU played one game in between on Feb. 9 vs. DePaul.
• Xavier has four players averaging in double figures in scoring through 24 games and a fifth at 9.8 ppg.
• Xavier soph. Naji Marshall, who had a team-high 22 points vs. DePaul, leads the team in scoring (16th in the BIG EAST at 13.4 ppg.) and is second in rebounding (eighth in the BIG EAST at 6.7 rpg.) and assists (13th in the BIG EAST at 3.3 apg.).
• Xavier sophomore Paul Scruggs is second on the team in scoring (18th in the BIG EAST at 13.0 ppg.), while leading the team in free-throw percentage (.804) and 3-point field goal percentage (third in the BIG EAST at .442).
• Xavier junior Quentin Goodin, who leads the team in assists (third in BIG EAST at 4.8 apg.), has 397 career assists and is in the top 10 on XU's all-time career assist leader list. He is five assists shy of his third straight 100+ assist season.
• Xavier junior Tyrique Jones, who leads the nation in offensive rebounding percentage (17.2), leads the team in rebounding (fifth in the BIG EAST at 7.3 rpg.) and offensive rebounding (first in the BIG EAST and 18th in the nation at 3.3 rpg.).
• Xavier graduate transfer Zach Hankins leads the BIG EAST Conference in field goal percentage (.694) and is second in the BIG EAST in blocks (1.5 bpg.). Hankins is on pace to break the XU single-season field goal percentage mark of former NBA standout Brian Grant (.654 in 1992-93).
