Musketeers improve to 5-11 following win against Howard in Orlando

ORLANDO - Xavier men's tennis returned to the win column on Tuesday afternoon after topping Howard, 6-1, in Orlando, FL. The Musketeers are now 5-11 on the year and will return to action with two more matches later this week.

THE MATCH

In doubles, Xavier picked up the point to go ahead, 1-0, with a 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot for Michael Lee and Jan Vrba, and a 6-3 win the No. 2 spot for Matthew Graft and Connor LaFavre. Brett Winters and Jack Dykema trailed, 4-5, in the No. 1 spot when the point was decided.

The Musketeers continued their strong play in singles, picking up five more wins on the afternoon. Jan Vrba started Xavier off with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in the No. 6 singles spot, and Connor LaFavre followed suit with another two-set win, 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 4 spot. In the No. 3 spot, Matthew Graft secured another win, 6-1, 6-3.

Michael Lee extended Xavier's lead with a 6-2, 6-4 win in the No. 5 spot, while Jack Dykema improved the score to 6-0 following a 6-2, 7-6 (9) win in the No. 2 spot

Howard's only point came from a victory over Brett Winters in the No. 1 spot, 4-6, 6-1, 14-12.
