Grammes Collects a Pair of Doubles as Musketeers Fall at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - In the midweek game at Kentucky, the Musketeers struck first, but a pair of six-run innings by the Wildcats pulled the game out of reach, giving Xavier the 16-3 setback on Tuesday evening.
Xavier took the 1-0 lead in the top of the first, but Kentucky responded with a pair in the bottom of the inning. A six-run third by the Wildcats broke the game open, but Xavier scored a pair in the top of the fifth to pull back within five. Kentucky responded with a six-run bottom of the fifth, and added a run in the seventh and the eighth.
Conor Grammes had a big day at the plate, picking up two doubles, two walks, and playing a role in each of Xavier's three runs as Xavier moved to 6-13 overall. Kentucky moved to 14-7 on the season.
Xavier returns to the field on Friday, March 22 when the Musketeers host Evansville for the 2019 home opener at Hayden Field, set for 3:00 PM
