Women's Tennis Picks Up Eighth-Straight Win, Topping NKU 6-1

Musketeers move to 10-2 on the season
CINCINNATI - Xavier women's tennis moved to 10-2 on the season with an eighth-straight win, beating Northern Kentucky, 6-1, at Five Seasons Sports Club on Friday evening.
"Today we came out strong against Northern Kentucky and got the doubles point right off the bat," said Xavier freshman Hunter Roper. "I think that gave us the confidence we needed to move on to singles everyone where everyone came out ready to take care of business. It's an amazing feeling to be apart of a team that not only works hard but also feels like family. I think our results have really shown the time and energy we have been putting in, and I am so excited to see how we do throughout the rest of this season. I think the best is yet to come!"
Xavier collected the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 wins in the No. 2 spot, for Sophia Abelson and Kaitlin Ruether, and in the No. 3 spot for Hunter Roper and Rachael Reichenbach. The win for Abelson and Ruether is their eighth straight as a pair.
Ahmeir Kyle and Emily Thomas led, 5-2, in the No. 1 spot when the point was decided.
Xavier moved ahead, 2-0, with a 6-3, 6-2 win for Ahmeir Kyle in the No. 1 spot. Emily Thomas extended the lead to 3-0 with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 3 spot, her fourth-straight singles victory.
Kaitlin Ruether won her eighth-straight singles match, moving to 10-1 on the season, with a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 6 spot, securing the win for the Musketeers at 4-0.
Rachael Reichenbach collected the fifth point for the Musketeers, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 in the No. 5 spot.
NKU's lone point came in the No. 2 spot, where Sophia Abelson battled in a tiebreaker in the first set before falling in the second, 7-6 (9), 6-3.
Hunter Roper collected the final point for the Musketeers, winning 6-3, 6-3 to set the final score at 6-1 in favor of Xavier, extending an eight-match win streak that dates back to early February.

Xavier returns to action on Tuesday, March 12 when the Musketeers travel to Orlando, Fla. for a series of matches, beginning with Howard.
